I started doing Crossfit September 22nd 2009 and I loved it - it's totally awesome and it made me a better person in so many different ways!

After nearly 4 years of Crossfit and wrist injury I tried a home fitness DVD for a change and something new - Rip 60 was really great and then I found Beachbody / Tony Horton's P90X!
It's THE best home fitness program ever!!!
It changed my body in so many amazing ways and got my cardio fitness, my core and overall strength including push up strength better than ever before!!

I now do many Beachbody programs as they are all so great.
I 'm a big Tony Horton fan because he makes me work hard but makes me laugh at the same time.
After I completed P90X, I did P90X3, P90X2 and some P90X+. I''ve tried other Beachbody programs including the P90, Piyo, Focus T25,
21 Day Fix Extreme, Country Heat, BodyBeast and Insanity, The Aslyum 1 and 2. Completed 21 Day Fix and 22 Min hard Core.

Did some Insanity Max 30 and Core de Force but my knees can't handle jumping every day so I have to mix them in.
Shift shop is great and looking forward to the new 80 Day obsession.

I'm the fittest I've ever been in my life and still getting stronger every day!

DOMS, DOMS and more DOMS - My quads have been in agony since thursday and I still have pain in my right quad / thigh - very scary but decided it was long enough and to get back to it.

This was weird - with the 6 weeks and now the doms I feel like I’m starting crossfit all over again big surprise probably not bad thing I guess especially with what i know now but still feels very odd!

50 wall ball shots, 20#/14# - I scaled to 30 @ 5kg (broken as required)
30 pull-ups - First 10 were PU rev assisted and broken 5-3-2, so not to have complete slog fest changed down to beginner ring rows (brokenas required).

Done in 10.10 mins

OMG that was tough - sdhp’s were fine, but the wallballs after them were really hard on my legs and I just could not get enough oxygen grrrr my cardio conditioning has significantly reduced in the last 6 weeks grrrrrrr. My chin ups have gone backwards too it seems shut eye

My legs and arms were so shaky after this - whats going on there - poor eating I’m guessing.

But onward and upward!!

Pleased with that extra rep considering how much I have done over the last few weeks.

Done in 10.12mins = over 1 minute of my pr of 9.07mins so way of my best pace but considering it will be 6 weeks tomorrow since I sprained my foot/ankle - I’m just chuffed I managed the mile bigsmile .
So now I’m pretty much back to fighting fit - bring it on for 2013 - I’m staying injury free and achieving my goals this year!

Wanted some cardio but wary of ankle so tried the elliptical with arms - level 1 - coming up to 5 mins becase aware of my ankle so at only 560 meters - thought that was enough for now.
Tried some KB swings @ 8kg x 20
Also tried some SDHP (not sumo to protect ankle) with 8kg KB x 10-10-10 - always good to get the heart pumping these are tongue wink

Phew - this was tough on grip - I only just made the last few reps for the cramping in my hands and forearms.
But it was great to get the body working after so much sitting and resting - foot felt good so really pleased with that - just starting to walk normally on it.

I did the 3 reps today and it was tougher than the 2's but not too easy so I've decided to stick to pin 5 and try for every other day so I speed things up but try not to skip too many steps - I hope I will benefit in the long run. Going to pin 4 and trying more frequently seemed like not the best idea. If I manage to do every other day and manage all the reps then I'll be going to pin 4 in 3 weeks time so that should be good and thats my goal.

A harder level and so back to 2 reps as per GD - but I’m not sure what kind of jump to harder level I should go for?

Pin 5 - which is 3 inch lower than pin 6.
EMOM 2 reps for 20 mins

Completed all reps with relative ease. So is this pin 5 too easy? Should I go to pin 4 (another 3 inch lower - all the pins in my rack are 3 inch apart).

I’m wondering about doing this push up program twice a week now as I’ve acclimatised to the volume to see if I can speed things up a bit.
Pin 6 doing it only once a week with other wods has taken me just over 13 weeks with no missed reps so at that pace I wont reach the floor for 91 weeks gulp I know I can be impatient but that surely is a long time to do proper full push ups????
So even twice a week that’s 45 weeks!!!

May be pin 4, then pin 2, then 1 as I’m sure it will be getting tough by then and the smaller jumps will be more beneficial???
Or keep the 3 inch / 1 pin increments and do it more frequently ie 4 times a week regardless of other wods??
I could be over thinking it, I could be just being impatient or I’m just in the wood here??
Thoughts any one please???  question

Pretty cool - I didn’t rush it but it went well. I need to be careful putting the bar down on my back.

Serious DOMS from Sunday - not had that much pain in a long time and not really sure why as 24 thrusters should not have caused the pain but much better today although not gone completely so see how we go.

Great wod - got scaling spot on as although legs felt tired in round 3 no actual muscle failure or bar staring through out = really pleased with that so up the reps or level of difficulty/scaling next time wink

If my DOM’s are back tomorrow I wont mind because at least I’ll know why!!!

Might have to change schedule to tue - wed - fri - sun but we will see how it goes.

Felt it in my wrists again even though strapped up. Can’t keep elbows parallel - hoping yoga flexibility work will help it.

Good wod - kept a reasonable pace and not too much bar staring grin  - I always know when i have the wod about right because I end up sweating for a good 10 minutes after I stop lol - does everybody else get that too???

Mixture of elbows out and elbows in and slightly wider grip each time by about an inch.
4 more reps - wahoo!

Elliptical Lev 2 - 2400 meters / 1.5 miles
Done in 14.13 mins - not quite beat my PR of 14.02mins but not bad  but not bad considering I have't done this distance in 12 months.
Splits every 400m were 2.24, 2.25, 2.25, 2.21, 2.20, 2.17.
then I backed off the pace a little but carried on for a while longer 2.42, 2.37 total 3200meters in 19.36 mins.

Rest 2 mins 1.14 DLs, Rest 1 min 0.54 DLs, 0.26 travel, 1.55 singles (went better than the start lol).

Pull ups - i started with PU rev assisted 12 (5-4-3), 9 (3-2) then knew i was taking too long so changed to beginner ring rows (feet under rings) (3), 6 (3-3)
I wasn’t going to asisted pull ups since GD said no in wods but I wanted to compare to my last Fran…

Pull up - PU rev assist
Rediculously slow 10.08 - I didn’t want to push too hard as not great eating last 24 hours and lacking sleep but still soooo much sucking wind it was untrue and the pull ups were a slog. Just shows how much conditioning I have lost over the last 2.5 weeks grrr
But I realised when my arms were really struggling that to wait it out till my arms recovered and the set up of getting into the foot loop each time was just eating into the time and although GD has never actually shouted at me as I’ve never met him in person - I could hear him telling me to stop being stupid and so I changed to ring rows. Which if I’m honest were nearly as hard but I saved the set up time each break. So I will try same assisted ring rows next time and see how I go. Was pleased with thrusters though - I had my wrists strapped so not to aggravate anything and they went well better than I remember doing any thrusters in Fran before.

Gotta love PR’s and gotta love this stuff - Thanks to GD’s help and programming my body has changed more in the last 10 weeks that in it did in the first 2 years of just doing scaled main site! I’m getting the stronger body that I always knew I could. I know I still have a ways to go but I can see positive changes, I can feel positive changes, I can see progress and I keep making progress and its awesome!!
If anyone had any doubts - GD really knows his stuff and and this stuff really works!

I think I got the scaling wrong on this one as it was a real slog - but checking my time I was similar to others???
But it was heavily broken and really tough on my shoulders.

Well pushing hell that was tough!  big surprise  The heavy DB press were for me well really heavy!!!
3rd rep of 2nd set of 2nd round I failed completely from fatigue and had to shake it out.

I finished off with a few kettbleswings as I’ve just got my first ever kettlebells - I was bought a 8kg/17lb, 12kg/26lb and a 16kg/35lb for my birthday party
So from now on proper KB swings, my row sub of SDHP can be a KB too. I can finally put in to practice all the hours of Jeff Maritone vids I’ve been watching lol. = Awesome stuff!!

Pullups were harder than I thought - a lot of leg used and a bit of kip motion also.
Really surprised how well my dips went and felt - its seem such a long time since I did any.
Made a wrist ache little which was a shame I should have used my push bars or done in on a bar but hopefully helps it to get stronger.


Had more in the tank today so got on Elliptical lev 2 and just did steady pace (6-7) while reading (Very uncrossfit I know but it felt good) and something is better than nothing.
18 mins done and 2000m covered.

When I just did .com scaled from here I felt I wasn't getting strong enough, when I just do strength stuff I miss the wood's and my conditioning goes out the window. When I tried CFSB with .com scaled from here I felt is was too much and I found I was recovering more than I was working out so I'm after strength and wod's programmed for me (as diy doesn't work for me it seems)..

After 4 days of absolutely nothing because of the pain (everywhere except biceps I think) I finally felt like doing something so I thought I'd work the two moves that didn't really get worked/stressed on Thursday and some elliptical just to get the blood pumping round to help recovery...

Crossfit Leicester - technique check and wod

Well I finally found a local box - only 20 mins away.

So I went down there after speaking to the owner to get my form checked and if ness. do an on ramp class as they say everybody needs to that before starting any woods.

Warm up was double unders - I've got a double under before but I tried.
It was lighter rope that i was used too, well wire actually. I tried a few times a failed but then I got a double under Hoorah!! my first ever double under. Didn't manage another but chuffed I got my first ever!

He gave me an 8kg (light/training) oly bar and tested me in the 9 fundamental movements. Air squat, front squat, o/h squat, deadliest, Sumo-deadlift high pull, Shoulder press, push press, push press and medicine ball clean.

I have to keep my chest up during air squats (which I knew), keep elbows up during front squats (I kinda knew also but its hard) and don't put bar back too far when OHS'ing (which I been told before). So all in all I was pretty pleased. Wow those med balls are big.

So I then did the strength wod which was clean and jerk 1-1-1-1-1-1

I did 8kg oly bar with training plates twice (power clean), then added 2 x 5kg (full clean), then 2 x 1.25kg plates and I managed it but that was close to my limit and I didn't want to upset my wrist. So then I backed off and did another 2 clean and jerks with 18kg and then for the last one but the 1.25's back on and clean & jerked 20.5kg.

Then he decides to get me to do the wow with everybody - Whitten - total craziness

I tried a 12kg KB which was ok but i knew 22 reps was going to be a struggle regardless of the 5 rounds!!! He gave me a 20" box - OMG it was high. I told him about my tibial torsion so I stepped down from the box jumps and didn't do the run he subbed 50 skips. And i got a 3kg Med ball for the wall balls and the grey line was higher than i was used to OMG.

Well we were short on time so he soften it to 4 rounds and then 3 rounds but I knew I would be lucky to finish one once I started the box jumps. I was jumping up into a full squat and standing up it was really hard and boy I just couldn't get enough oxygen in at all. He kept shouting me on telling me to keep going and I was determined to keep going but wow it was tough, especially because its so long since I've done a wod!
I soldiered on and eventually finished a round - much slower than everybody else and completed 1/2 the next round including my 50 skips.

OMG was I gonna ache after this!!!

Elliptical - I did tabata interval puppies = x 6 on level 2. Felt tough as its a while since i've sprinted on elliptical but made a great change.
