Welcome to my fitness log

I've created this to keep everything to do with my fitness journey in one place for easy reference.
I've listed links to places I visit regularly or places I think are interesting or valuable resources.

I started doing Crossfit September 22nd 2009 and I loved it - it's totally awesome and it made me a better person in so many different ways!

After nearly 4 years of Crossfit and wrist injury I tried a home fitness DVD for a change and something new - Rip 60 was really great and then I found Beachbody / Tony Horton's P90X!
It's THE best home fitness program ever!!!
It changed my body in so many amazing ways and got my cardio fitness, my core and overall strength including push up strength better than ever before!!

I now do many Beachbody programs as they are all so great.
I 'm a big Tony Horton fan because he makes me work hard but makes me laugh at the same time.
After I completed P90X, I did P90X3, P90X2 and some P90X+. I''ve tried other Beachbody programs including the P90, Piyo, Focus T25,
21 Day Fix Extreme, Country Heat, BodyBeast and Insanity, The Aslyum 1 and 2. Completed 21 Day Fix and 22 Min hard Core.

Did some Insanity Max 30 and Core de Force but my knees can't handle jumping every day so I have to mix them in.
Shift shop is great and looking forward to the new 80 Day obsession.

I'm the fittest I've ever been in my life and still getting stronger every day!

Les Mills Grit Strength #37 and 645 Week 2 Range and Repair

Les Mills Grit Strength #37 which was great apart from the modifications so I dont hurt my glute any more. No lunges as putting my leg behind me in a no no. Squatting, clean and press, plus rows seems to be ok.

Burpees seemed ok at the time but the ache afterwards told me I maybe shouldnt have done them.

Nice sequences of moves that you do each for 20 secs and then put them all together.

Chased it 645 Week 2 Range and Repair which was great as usual.

22 MHC Cardio 1 and Les Mills Grit Strength 35

I was up late this morning after a late night so needed something short so I got a little Tony Horton fix with 2 Min Hard Core Cardio 1 less the burnout for time.

17 mins of work was enough for me this morning lol. Stretched and showered.

This afternoon I was full of beans I wanted something more so I did Grit Strength 35 with hslighlty heavier weights ie 3kg for plate and 4kgs for Bar. It was awesome and loved every second.

More quality reps over crazy speed but still loved it :)

Les Mills Grit Strength 35 and BodyBalance 90 Flexibility Short

So I needed a fitness high this morning and went for something I haven't done in ages - Les Mills Grit Strength and boy it never fails to hit the spot.

Les Mills Grit Strength 35 for this morning, after much reviewing of the newer releases yesterday, and it was great. I went very light with weights with only a 2kg and 2 x 3kgs for the barbell moves. Took it fairly steady and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Will up the weights next time.

and chased with BodyBalance 90 Flexibility Short for a nice stretch :)

LM Grit Strength 28

This was just what I needed to his morning.

I used 2 x 3kg for the warm up, then 2 x 4kgs for the barbel work and a 3kg plate for the plate work.

I really want to get my push up strength back and I think one helps witht he plank holds and the bear crawls for shoulder strength.

10R Wk 4 Day 2 Lift Upper, Grit Strength 28 & BodyBalance 84 Flexibilty

Enjoyed the upper body work this morning but left a little lacking in most areas, except biceps. So I think I need to increase my weights.

Later needed something else so I did Grit Strength 28 with 3kgs for warm up and then 4kgs through out. It was awesome loved it.

Then went straight into BodyBalance 84 Flexibility which was magic. Worked well as a cool down, stretched everything out and worked on some flexibility and lovely meditation at the end.
Some new moves in there which good and effective.

Felt amazing afterwards as loved the yin yang of those two workouts together.

Grit Strength 18 and BodyBalance 79 Flexibility

Grit strength this morning and loved it, foot feeling better got some lunges in carefully. Used 3s, 4s and 5s to add some weight in moves I didnt jump in. Modified where I needed to to stay safe and pain free.

This evening I did Bodybalance 79 Flexibility and it was great, was careful in the down dogs but completed all the yoga section. Loved it.

Grit Strength 29

Still recovering from foot strain so had to modify this one in parts as no lunges at all so did more squats.
No mountain climbers - I did normal push ups and narrow push ups on knees.
Then for 2 min challenge of burpees I did some dumbell work, 10 each of bicep curls, chest press, chest fly, narrrow press and tricep extension.

Because of no lunges I had the oxygen so upped to 5kg (from 4kgs last time) on some sets of clean and press and squat press - just to get a bit of extra work in :)

Also some of the fast squat sets I went no weight but powered up from the bottom as no heel raise.

Felt good to get the blood pumping and the heart working :)

Grit Strength 26

This was tough again but better than last time.

Warmed up with 3kg but then used 4kg's for the rest of the workout except 2 kg for snatch.

Managed 28 burpees in the 2 minutes after a short break letting the dog in. Up from 25 last time :)

Slight strain in right foot but not quite sure how I did it. So did less calf raises in the squat calf raise section as that hurt it. Also walked the lunges instead jumping not to make it worse.

Great job!

Grit Strength 27

Loved this one this morning.

Did it all the barbell with 2 x 4kg (except the warmup) up from 3 and 4's which great progress :) and most of the push ups were on toes too so yay me!
Used a 3kg for the plate in the later sections and some were tough on the oxygen.

Grit Strength 26

Loved this again - tough but great. 3's and 4's again and 2 for the snatch.

Went slow and did the snatch, then curl into chest for squat.

Got 25 Burpees in the 2 mins - lets go for 26 next time :)

Grit Strength 29

Les Mills Grit Strength 29

Good one and tough - only used 2 x 3kg and it was a oxygen sucker that is for sure!!

Cautious to push too hard with the Coronavirus doing to the world what it is but enjoyed it and look forward to getting better at this one.

Grit Strength 27

Les Mills Grit Strength 27

Mix of squats, lunges, clean and press, snatch, jumping lunges, push ups and burpees.

Grit Strength 26

Wanted a quick one this morning so Grit Strength 26 Getting started edition - just over 20 mins.

It was tough but great. I only used 3 & 4kg and sometimes no weight at all as I'm clearly out of condition and wanted to be careful.
Not push crazy hard to keep my immune system in good state to fend and protect from this Coronavirus.

Really enjoyed it and it was fun to have some energise and get an early morning workout in :)

P90X3 The Challenge and Grit Strength 17

Been missing Tony and pull ups so I decided to go for the The Challenge - was fairly pleased with my numbers and to find that I'm still feeling strong.

Chased it with Grit Strength 17 - good routine even though I skipped the push ups having done 80 already! Lunges with weights, clean and squat, rows, jumping lunges, squats jumps, lunge and press and burpees sure do put the heart rate up with very little recovery time- wowee!!!

I used 12kg barbell - front squats were tough but doable - felt the quads working even though I was slower than them but saftey first and I was concerned with wrist holding the front squat etc.

5kg plate for others but changed to a 3kg or 2kg when nec. and even went to 1kg for snatches which were actually a fast front raise and very odd. I eventually went to a front raise and squat seperatley as I was aware of my lower back - as I struggle with the range of motion/mobility in my upper back.
I didnt enjoy the overhead squat moves so went heavier and just did squats.
Not my favourite routine.

Les Mills Grit Strength 16 and CXWorks 23

Really enjoyed Grit Strength today - its like Pump but a much faster HIIT version in 30 mins.

Weighted Squats and lunges, clean and press, push press, high pull, rows, squat press, bear crawls, frog jumps, push up burpees, surfer burpees and arc press squats in many different combos. With some core hovers to finish.

I used 10kg on the bar - could go 12kg next time. Used 3kg DB for plate will go 4kg next time for arcs and 5kg for presses.

Chased it with CXWorks and Oh My Core!!! Wow 30 mins of just core work certainly makes you work. Some plank work, hovers, standing work with a plate/DB and band work in standing and on the floor = phew!!! Front upper and lower abs, obliques, glutes and back were all hit today.

Just laughing this afternoon and I can feel my abs so I think I might know to it tomorrow lol.

Les Mills Grit Strength 8

Phew this one works you!!! Lots of squats, rows and presses and most of all lots of LM Burpees!!

I was toast by the end and could hardly do the core/plank section to finish but loved it.

Fast moving fun with a great calorie burn to boot!!!

Physio Glute Work and LM Grit Strength 6

So I did my first session of glute work set by my physio tonight to help sort out the tracking of my knee. It took me about 40 mins and was very achey and ouchy in places but that means its working right?

3 times a week for two weeks then go back to see and maybe give me more functional work to do.

So that didn't leave long for my workout so got in another Grit Strength. Increased the barbell weight so pleased with that but the jumping lunges and squats bit was tough after the glute work.
