Welcome to my fitness log

I've created this to keep everything to do with my fitness journey in one place for easy reference.
I've listed links to places I visit regularly or places I think are interesting or valuable resources.

I started doing Crossfit September 22nd 2009 and I loved it - it's totally awesome and it made me a better person in so many different ways!

After nearly 4 years of Crossfit and wrist injury I tried a home fitness DVD for a change and something new - Rip 60 was really great and then I found Beachbody / Tony Horton's P90X!
It's THE best home fitness program ever!!!
It changed my body in so many amazing ways and got my cardio fitness, my core and overall strength including push up strength better than ever before!!

I now do many Beachbody programs as they are all so great.
I 'm a big Tony Horton fan because he makes me work hard but makes me laugh at the same time.
After I completed P90X, I did P90X3, P90X2 and some P90X+. I''ve tried other Beachbody programs including the P90, Piyo, Focus T25,
21 Day Fix Extreme, Country Heat, BodyBeast and Insanity, The Aslyum 1 and 2. Completed 21 Day Fix and 22 Min hard Core.

Did some Insanity Max 30 and Core de Force but my knees can't handle jumping every day so I have to mix them in.
Shift shop is great and looking forward to the new 80 Day obsession.

I'm the fittest I've ever been in my life and still getting stronger every day!

Insanity The Ayslum Strength

Asylum Strength again for me and increased my weights again ;)

Warmed up with 1st round at 7.5lb /3.4kg this time instead of 2kg / 4.7lb and 2nd round with 4kg / 8.8lb instead of 7.5lb /3.4kg :)

Dumbbell Rotations and Shoulders I stuck with 7.5lb /3.4kg but it was much better and pushed through much better in the rotations where I was lagging a bit last time.

All the rest of the workout I did the 4kg / 8.8lb up from 7.5lb /3.4kg = phew and I'm taking less breaks in the chest/abs section and can feel my abs getting stronger so really pleased with more improvements.
I really really enjoy this workout - love it!!!

My right foot is a little achey and I'm aware of my knees so I think I'd be stupid to do Vertical Plyo tomorrow - I may do triometrics & dynamix (haven't done it in ages) or maybe IntervalsX+ instead. I don't think all that crazy jumping is worth it for me.

Insanity The Asylum - Speed & Agility

So I got out my Agility Ladder and my skipping rope and gave Insanity The Asylum Speed & Agility my best shot and OMG!!!!

I can still skip - I surprised myself lol. Some of the those skipping combos took some coordinating but I got them in the end.

On to the agility ladder work and I have never swore so much at Shaun T or any DVD as much as I did today. It was relentless and I modified and pushed on as best as I could. It was tough but I loved it!!

Struggled with the plank work more than anything and there is a lot of it. If this workout doesn't make my burpees easier and better then nothing will.

Insanity The Asylum Strength

After 4 days rest including a physio session Thursday morning, in which my shoulder is great, she checked my pec/chest, but boy did she get to work on my upper back and pummeled me to loosen it up.

I was indeed of something as I felt like I was stiffening up from the lack of activity and I felt rested so Insanity The Asylum Strength was it today.

Love it and improved from last time - (excluding the warm up round 1 with 2kg / 4.7lb) I used 7.5lb /3.4kg for most of it and dropped to 2kg / 4.7lbs when I needed to and for shoulders but today I managed it all (excluding same warm up) with 7.5lb /3.4kg yay!!! Pleased with over all progress and form too ;)

Tomorrow is rest again for me then I'm going to do a mostly Asylum Week with a yoga day thrown in, in preparation for up coming Shaun Week ;)

Rest

My Pec isn't that happy and I'm not full of beans so I think my body is asking for some rest and recovery. So I'm going to take the rest of this week off, I've had today off and feel better already.

I've learn't before that body needs a recovery week every 3-4 weeks and I've been mending, receiving physio treatment (which takes more out of you than you think) and pushing as hard as I could in my workouts for the last 6 weeks so no surprise that I need a rest really.

So a few days off, although hard for me, is what I need right now. I might also decide if I should change tack for the next two weeks to get ready for Shaun week?

P90X Total Synergistics and Yoga

X3E/T25G Wk3 D1

Total Synergistics today and pretty much enjoyed it. Odd sensation in my left chest muscles right at the start. First push up into side arm balance and felt a very short lived cramp in my pecs as I reached up = very odd. I stretched it out and carried on but dropped to my knees so not to bother it anymore. Felt it once more so I'm assuming very minor strain grrrrrr.

I chased it with X3 Yoga which apart being careful of my chest so knees for chatarangas (which felt odd) I enjoyed the stretch, especially as it's the first proper yoga sequences I have done in 6 weeks (6 weeks ago today I hurt my shoulder.

I have no idea why these niggles keep happening. I'm eating great and my energy levels are good and I'm feeling 100% from my shoulder. I just don't understand, I've never so many little niggles one after another like this??? Am I getting old??? Is approaching 38 getting old???? I don't feel old at all lol What is going on grrrrrrrrrr

Asylum Strength

X3E/T25G Wk2 D6 Rip't up but swappped it for Asylum Strength (I feel Rip't Up just goes too fast to get any real benefit from it for me personally)

I was wary after yesterdays weirdness but after a long debate I decided I'd make a start if I felt funny I'd stop immediately but I was totally fine.

I felt great and got a great workout in - didn't go crazy with the weights but felt the burn! I used 7.5lb /3.4kg for most of it and dropped to 2kg / 4.7lbs when I needed to and for shoulders.

Loved it!!
This one is a great Shaun T, mostly upper body, strength workout. Trust and Believe!

T25 Ab Intervals

X3E/T25G Wk2 D5

T25 Ab Intervals tonight and my plank work was feeling strong, muhc better than last week with my shoulder, it was going great until I had a really wierd reaction - I started excessivly sweating ie far exceeding the effort I was doing? It was really strange, I then started shaking too, all my muscles were quivering. My Heart rate was perfectly good and low as I expected it to be through the roof but it was fine???

No clue what it was, I tried to carry on but my legs were heavy and I just felt weird/rough. It was a bit like when you are going to be sick but I had no nausea at all. No dizziness either. I skipped the last few minutes and just tried to calm down. Then I felt cold with the sweating!!

I started Yoga Stretch but even just laying my back trying to stretch hamstring was causing me to shake still. So I gave it up completely and just did a few gentle stretches to cool down further, cuddle my pup who came to see if I was ok and gradually it went away.

I took my shake as normal and after a while I felt fine and I've been fine since so no clue. It think it was digestion related - my the ab work caused some discomfort or squashed something who knows. I also wonder if it was my body telling me to slow down. I have been pushing hard this week and so I will see how I feel tomorrow.

I was going to swap out tomorrow's Rip't Up for Asylum strength but I will see how I feel, I may skip it and have a rest day and take the weekend to recover.

P90X3 CVX and 22MHC Special Ops Cardio

X3E/T25G Wk2 D4

CVX was good fun - this week I did the first round with 1kg / 2.2lb and the second round I used 2kg / 4.4 lb. (except for the Crescent chair grrr).  Light weights compared to some but enough my shoulder and an improvement on last week.
Really enjoyed it but wanted more so I chased it with...

22MHC Special Ops Cardio ;)
Very similar and some moves exactly the same so it seemed like a good double. Again I did the first round with 1kg / 2.2lb and then second and third rounds with 2kg / 4.4 lb.

Modified the Burpee rolls slightly and didn't manage all the Crawl Jacks but my shoulder felt ok considering first floor plank work in a while so I'm happy ;)

Slight delay during finishing stretch as I had to rush outside and shift a bag of sand and a bag of cement in the shed out of the rain!

P90X3 The Challenge

X3E/T25G Wk2 D3 The Challenge

Got this done early today in my gym and I managed to hit all my numbers 8/10 yay!

All pull ups were chin max assist - still haven't got my chin up back, I can still only get about half way unassisted :(

But Push ups I used TH Power Stands this time - lower from the bench of last week ;) I did the first set on knees and second on feet - for all but the last two sets of staggered.

Really pleased with shoulder strength progress - its a good day ;)

T25 Core Speed & Core de Force MMA Speed 2.0

X3E/T25G Wk2 D2 T25 Core Speed & Core de Force MMA Speed 2.0

I swapped T25 Speed 2.0 for Core speed because I enjoyed it more and it not quite no intense on the feet/knees plus you get a little leg work ;)

Then chased it with MMA Speed 2.0 phew!

I pushed hard today and I dont think I've ever done 12 mins in red zone before woweeeee! My mat was pretty wet when I finished too and I was still sweating after my shower lol.

For both of these I used my power stands to make the floor slightly higher for my shoulder and so that I could do the proper burpees and not modify like last week - yay!

Loved it, totally what I needed today. I slowed a little in the last round of MMA but boy did I enjoy it.

P90X2 Total Body

X3E/T25G Wk2 D1 Should be Total Synergistics but my knee was painful yesterday so I need to be wary of how much running/jumping I'm doing this week.

Steven mentioned X2 Total Body earlier and I though aha! perfect sub for me instead of doing Total Synergistics twice like last week I can do a similar workout (many moves are similar) and get in some foam rolling at the same time. (I can't believe the last time I did this workout was 1 May 14!!)

It was great, oh wow its along time since I've foam rolled and omg my quads (prob help my knee too) was so painful. The quick visit to the pain cave, as I call it, was much needed.

Cracking workout that I did with no balls - followed Jeremy the hotel room modifier and it worked great for me. I even did full some push up bars on power stands on the floor - yay my shoulder is getting better.

I didn't burn the same calories as last week but boy did I sweat more lol.

T25 Gamma Rip't Up & BOD Yoga Stretch

X3E/T25G Day 6 Gamma Rip't Up

I've only ever done this one once before so I watched it through last night to remind myself as I remember it moved very quickly. Went light weights as sore from last few days.

Chased it with some BOD Yoga Stretch with Vytas for a nice calming peaceful end to the workout week. Bring on Monday Week 2 ;)

X3E/T25G CVX and Ab Intervals

Omg 😲 did I loose some DNA tonight 😳

X3E/T25G Day 4 and 5 CVX chased with Ab Intervals! I went light weight as I know CVX is tough on the shoulders so I only used 1.25kg / 2.75lb and for my mending shoulder it was enough.

I was really pleased with my endurance on this one as I remember this one being tough for me oxygen wise so that was good 😊.

Ab intervals was as tough as I remember it though and I did my best. I did do some of the floor work which is the first plank work I've done in many weeks and my shoulder felt good. It didn't like the inverted stuff towards the end on the elbows so I just took a breather but overall really pleased with my shoulder holding up and getting stronger.
Looking forward to improving in this over the next few weeks 🤞🏻

P90X3 The Challenge

X3E/T25G Day 3 The Challenge

I used my bench for my push ups today which is lower than my desk I used on Monday. So slowly working back down to the floor and it felt good. I was aware of my shoulder but no pain. I took a few breaths here and there as I got tired but I managed 10 each round which I was really pleased that my shoulder managed it ;)

Pull ups - I managed to get to my pull up bar today so I did them all Chin up max assisted and just did the best I could aiming at 8 each round and apart from a few towards the end I hit my numbers.

Looking forward to improving over the coming weeks.

T25 Speed 2.0 and Core Speed

X3E/T25G Day 2

Speed 2.0 and I enjoyed it - it's one of my favourite T25 workouts ;)

Then I chased it with Core Speed which I've never done before and I loved it - had to modify the burpees (some using window ledge and most like Tanya to protect shoulder) but I really really enjoyed it and I think it's my new favorite lol

Wow I was sweating for so long afterwards OMG!!!

P90X3 Total Synergistics x 2

So start of new P90X3 Elite / T25 Gamma Hybrid today with Total Synergistics.

I warmed up and did my shoulder exercises then cautiously got stuck in. I did all floor work against the wall to see how my shoulder felt and although it was awkward and not very challenging I got it done. Except the Side rise punch I subbed heavy lying tricep extensions.

I tried the chin up circle crunch move with the bands like Dreya but it didn't challenge me much at all.
I didn't really break a sweat until I lifted heavy with the Glamour Hammer!

So when I finished I did it all again and this time I used my desk for the floor work and that was slightly more challenging and thankfully I felt like I was actually doing something.
No jumping in my room so sat deeper in the squat for the 3 Hop Press and increasing the weight made me work harder. Chin Circle crunch I did 10 hard chin ups (using the rip 60 straps) then 4 slightly easier with the leg lift.

But by the end I felt I got a reasonable workout in lol

The Warrior Squat Moon make the muscles above the outer/extending hip just scream!!! Any one else?

Core de Force MMA Shred & BOD Yoga Stretch

Woke with DOMS in the glutes this morning OMG but went with Core de Force MMA Shred today and my shoulder felt good. I changed stance a couple of times just so that my shoulder didn't do too much.
Really enjoyed it and pushed hard in the spikes. Although some of the triple lunges were tough after yesterday ;)

Chased it with BOD Yoga Stretch. Avoided majority of downdogs and enjoyed the stretch and the calm after the punching and kicking.

Have a great weekend everyone.

P90X Legs and Back

Physio yesterday - all going well, its getting better and I can do more with it ;) but had to rest yesterday after more treatment and ultrasound.

Legs and Back today with no modifications for shoulder and some of my own changes for legs again.

I had to add in my physio exercises, with a band for my shoulder, straight after warm up.

Chin ups/pulls were a mix of Rip 60 Straps, band and Bent over Rows. My shoulder felt good so I got it all done this week.

Legs...Deadlift squats I increased my weights to 2 x 10lbs with the knee raise, Sneaky lunges I swapped for weighted Step ups with knee raise and step back lunge (Step up convict from X2), Toe Roll Iso lunge I swapped for Weighted lunges with 2 x 17.5lbs and Chair salutations done fully this time as my shoulder felt good. Calf raises I stayed the same with 2 x 17.5lbs as it makes it burn just right ;)

Really enjoyed it and felt like I pushed hard - those weighted leg moves really get the heart rate up phew!!!!

P90X Chest, Shoulders and Tri's

P90X Chest, Shoulders and Tri's for me and first time since hurting my shoulder so I was very cautious and only did wall push ups and light over head as per my physio. So modified many of the moves.

Did more push ups than I thought and light over head felt ok. At the half way point my shoulder felt quite achey so I decided not to be stupid and push on so I stopped. I've not done any real pushing for over 3 weeks.

I needed something else so I went into 22MHC Core 2. OMG my abs were so overwhelmed they were cramping on the second move!!!!
I stretched out with a quick cobra,  carried on and did my best and forgot the rest!

I stretched out my abs and and shoulders and then finished with Faith's 10 min yoga - Release the Tension. Was cautious and didn't hold the (mainly leaning on right hand) down dogs very long but a nice little calming stretch.

Back to physio tomorrow.

P90X Plyometrics

Plyo X for me tonight and it was just what I needed after an early start for the floor fitter and then a stressful day at the office.

But we now how a kitchen floor at long last after a very long 6 months and it looks amazing - wahoo!

Doms from yesterday's back and bi's but getting the blood pumping helped that too ;)

P90X Back and Biceps

After much deliberation I continued on with Back and Biceps today and was pleased with increases in many places ;)

Did some band pull downs too to see how my shoulder feels and it's feeling good. (I took my tape off this morning as it was itching and pretty sore which I'm not too happy about but it will mend)

If I do the X3Elite/T25Gamma hybrid I may double up depending how I feel on the day - maybe Rushika inspired and go one light weight and one heavy. Should be something more X like lol.
