Welcome to my fitness log

I've created this to keep everything to do with my fitness journey in one place for easy reference.
I've listed links to places I visit regularly or places I think are interesting or valuable resources.

I started doing Crossfit September 22nd 2009 and I loved it - it's totally awesome and it made me a better person in so many different ways!

After nearly 4 years of Crossfit and wrist injury I tried a home fitness DVD for a change and something new - Rip 60 was really great and then I found Beachbody / Tony Horton's P90X!
It's THE best home fitness program ever!!!
It changed my body in so many amazing ways and got my cardio fitness, my core and overall strength including push up strength better than ever before!!

I now do many Beachbody programs as they are all so great.
I 'm a big Tony Horton fan because he makes me work hard but makes me laugh at the same time.
After I completed P90X, I did P90X3, P90X2 and some P90X+. I''ve tried other Beachbody programs including the P90, Piyo, Focus T25,
21 Day Fix Extreme, Country Heat, BodyBeast and Insanity, The Aslyum 1 and 2. Completed 21 Day Fix and 22 Min hard Core.

Did some Insanity Max 30 and Core de Force but my knees can't handle jumping every day so I have to mix them in.
Shift shop is great and looking forward to the new 80 Day obsession.

I'm the fittest I've ever been in my life and still getting stronger every day!

Swopped Yoga X for LM BodyBalance 69

It was really good! A little bit of Tai Chi to warm up, then some flowing yoga with standing leg poses and balance work, into some core work and pilates finishing off with a gorgeous relaxing meditation.

Absolutey loved it! It had it all and in around 55 mins!

I'll be doing some more of these thats for sure!

P90X Back and Biceps

A few improvements but not many today. This one is such a bicep burner as you use them on almost every single move!!!

Thinking of mixing thngs tomorrow for yoga today and maybe trying some Les Mills CX Works and Body Balance - anyone else tried any / got any recomendations?

Used iWatch on workout setting today after tighenting my strap before I started and it didnt read well at all? Hmmmmm

P90X Plyo X

Needed this today - it was good to get a great sweat one!

New iWatch didnt read so well for a start so I tightened up the band and it seemed much better after that.

P90X Week 10 Chest, Shoulders & Tri's

It was cold in the gym this morning and this didn't do much to warm me up lol

Some improvements over last time but my triceps were toast really early on?

But my shoulder is getting stronger and I'm feeling good about that ;)

New iWatch for Christmas and I'm now using that instead of Polar HRM - see how it goes. My own one wasn't as accurate and I'm hoping this one will be better. I know it cant be as good as the chest strap but for the difference in a few calories for my purposes it will save a lot of hassle.

This graph shows my HR not getting very high at all today but it did a few times but not for very long - will try Plyo X tomorrow and see how that compares to around 600 burn for the hour.

I swopped out Kenpo X for some new BodyCombat and it was great fun. Some great fast paced combos and I really enjoyed it.

Have a great weekend everyone!

P90X Legs and Back

Wow this felt tough today for some reason - its been two weeks since I did it but it felt like a month!

Kept most of the weights the same except for the weighted lunges. Last time I used 2 x 12kg / 26lbs but I had the 14kg / 31lbs made up and to save messing about I used them. Only managed 6 reps but I did them lol

Pull up numbers were there or there abouts. Energy levels seemed low today and I didnt go airbourne on the Speed squats with my tired quads but got it all done :)

Thursday, 23 November 2017

I'm embracing the DOMS today ;) and my right hip flexor is moaning a little but got stuck into some Tony Yoga with Fountain of Youth and it was just what I needed.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

P90X Shoulders and Arms

Rushed again today grrrr but got it done.

Couple of nice increases with 8 x 7kg / 15lb on tricep kickbacks, 10 x 9kg / 20lb Concentration curls and finally managed all 16 reps of in and out shoulder flys with 4kg / 7.5lbs - finally some progress for my week shoulders ;)

I managed some side tri rises today too - first time since I strained my shoulder end of May!

I swopped out the Croughing Cohen Curl for Seated Incline Curls today (like Chisel) as I really feel like you get to feel the whole length of the bicep work with that isolation.

22 Min Hard core Cardio 3, 2 and Core 2

Swopped Plyo X for 22 Min Hard Core Cardio 3, chased it with Cardio 2 and finished with Core 2!

Love it!!! Got tough around 8 mins to go of Cardio 2 but pushed through and loved every second :)

Lost a fair bit of dna on that one......Get some!!!!!!

Recovery from illness and P90X Chest and Back.

After 3 attemps at workouts last week while being ill, I took the rest of week off and recovered properly as I was clearly worse that I thought/hoped.

I decided to repeat Week 9 of P90X and boy does it feel great to be back at it and not feeling half dead.

I didn't push stupid hard but I did push and really pleased with what I did. I was a little rushed as short on time but shorter warm up and skipped a bit of Tony talk and got all my sets in ;)

When I first got back on the pull up bar and almost flew up - that felt amazing! I think I might have lost a bit of fat last week with skipping so many meals when I couldn't face food, so I might be a little lighter which may have helped lol

Bring it!!

P90X Shoulders and Arms

Well most of it! I struggled today big time.

I'm feeling better in some ways ie no more diarrhoea/sickness and intentines feeling better but I still have some kind of stomach bug or something 'cause I feel like crap today. Sometimes I fancy food othertimes I just can't face it and feel really queasy - its really wierd.

I pushed play today in the hopes that it would make me feel better but I really struggled. I pushed through as best as I could and then got an unexpected visitior so that was the end of that (only 4 excercies from the end though).
This afternoon and evening I just feel so lethargic its not funny.

Not sure about Yoga tomorrow - I think I might have to try a real do nothing day and see if I can finally get top side of this thing. May even go without food to see if that helps?

P90X3 Triometrics

Still not 100% as I couldn't face breakfast again this morning but with low energy levels I had a protein shake instead. (Not Shakology as I've noow sent mine back )

Not enough energy reserves for Plyo X but I did give Triometrics a good bash ;) Didn't do all the jumping parts and modified where I needed to but still got a good sweat one, worked that booty, got HR up and didnt pass out so I think thats a good day considering.

P90X Chest and Back

After waking up Monday morning at 5.45 to an hour of diarroheoa and sickness the day was was pretty rough. Energy rock bottom and aches and pains from being sick ;(so no workout.

Today after a little more diarrahoa more Immodium to the rescue. On no food as still got a queasy tummy - I had two cups of Peppermint and ginger tea and felt a little better. I thought stuff it, took my pre-workout and got something done.

Chest and back but gently lol. I didnt even jump around in the warm up. Knees for push up on first round and at home so I used bands and straps for pull ups. I swopped decline for normals as I dont think my tummy would have thanked me ;).
Push ups on feet in second round and 35lb lawnmowers was the hardest thing I did. So no crazyiness or PR's at all, it just felt good to get moving again. Something to make me feel normal. :)

I actually had my first solid meal of the day at around 1.30pm = 16 hours with no food, never been done by be before but I figured my system needed a bit of a rest. I wasn't hungary so I didnt force it.

Energy levels are slowly catching up so fingers crossed I'm on the mend.

A little Obsessed - Day 5 Legs + Foam Rolling

So legs today and I actually really enjoyed it. It was fairly fast paced but I was at my gym today and space made a huge difference... as in I could keep up!

Didn't go crazy heavy with weights (light first round and heavier second) as I like being able to walk and sit down lol. Besides this is transition week for me ;)

And although I really enjoyed it I really feel like it was a great booty workout more than legs if I'm honest. Maybe heavier weights will make it more leggy but there is a whole lot booty work for a leg day and I know Autumn knows how to work legs from Chisel.
But with 80 Day obsession being a Booty'centric workout I guess I shouldn't be surprised. I just think lower body maybe a better title than legs but that just my 2 cents/pence worth.

I found another bit of Carpet off-cut to make those sliders slidy and the forward cross lunge was a little tricky to start with..knowing when to slide and then when to heel down to stop?

I stretched out well and then did some much needed foam rolling to finish the week. Back to finish the last phase of P90X next week.

A little Obsessed - Day 4 Cardio Core + Max 30 Max Out 15

This cardio workout was ok with Autumn and although I enjoyed the recovery bits to work the core, the pace is really quick to get all the bands and sliders in place to keep up with the cast in my small living room (at home again today).

I went to the garage and found a small off-cut of carpet and the sliders without covers worked like a dream. I wish I had it on from the start of the week! So much easier and therefore so much more do able. I even tried the move from the other day that I found almost impossible...now totally possible. Get your slidability right people!!

But getting my bit of carpet out with the sliders on to my mat and putting it away to make room for the jumping bits was a bit of a faff but I got through it (even with taking a phone call about 1/3 of the way through).

When I had done I needed something more so I went for crazy Shaun T Max Out 15 and phew maxed out about 4 mins in but loved it ;)

A little Obsessed - Day 3 AAA (Arms, Abs and A$$)

This one moves pretty fast and it was hard to keep up for me but overall it was ok.

I found the slider moves really hard as in almost impossible and I presume that's because there isn't enough slide on the surface I'm using. The first one in plank that you pull your knees up, I modified to one leg at a time (there was no modification given) but on the second round I lent forward more to take a bit more weight of my feet and pulled as hard as I could and managed a few reps then did a few more 1 leg.

The hamstring curl in bridge with the sliders I had very similar problems and modified pretty much all of them - I really need more slide - I might have to try the slippy side on straight carpet to see if its better but I didn't get chance during my workout (and only just thought about it while typing this lol)

The bridge today was the easiest move for me by far - I even used my black band (heaviest) and (2nd heaviest) blue band together and only just felt it! I think the muscle memory from these I did for my Physio a while back must have helped

Then my internet broke just before the end of the last move so not sure how it ended!

I was going to chase it with some Yoga Flow on the go but with no internet and against the clock (as I had a phone call during the workout too grr) I just stretched out.

A little Obsessed - Day 2 Booty

Oh My Abs!!! My abs are on fire today from yesterday, laugh, sit down, reach = ouchy!!!!

On to Day 2 today for Booty...this one is very Booty centric which is no surprise from the name really but she works different angles to most other workouts I've done.

Choosing the right band is really important on this one - legs are stronger than we think and its easy to choose a light band and not feel it much. I went light on the first set and heavyied up in the second.

Some different and cool stuff in these workouts - Autumn has done good I think!

I chased it with Yoga Stretch with Vytas as my lower body needed some TLC and way more stretching than Autumn gave us. I'm expecting some soreness but good stretching I think will allow me to walk tomorrow ;)

A little Obsessed - Day 1 Total Body Core

This was quite different with the bands and a nice challenge too.

I had to modify in a couple of places but overall really enjoyed it and looking forward to tomorrow.

Bicycles were the hardest move for me and I surprised myself on the reverse inchworm 😜

Core de Force MMA Speed 2.0

Really really short on time today as work is crazy busy but managed to squeeze in some MMA 2.0 and loved it! My shoulder got upset with the hooks, which surprised me after no pain for a week grrrr, but got a good sweat on.

I really wanted to wait till later to join the live 'A Little obsessed'ers but it wont happen at home in the evening for me with the new pups. So I'll be 18 hours behind the live event but still getting it done ;)

Be great to hear everyone's pain before I submit myself to Autumns thrashings too lol

Max 30 Friday Fight Rnd 1 & Core de Force Core Kinectics

Tried a new one today as I needed a bit of intense Shaun T! Friday fight was pretty good and pretty tough and I broke in some new trainers too lol.

Loved it and chased it with Core Kinectics which I still find a tough routine to do but there the ones we need to do more often right?

I plan on not doing much this weekend now as I need to chillax. Have a great weekend everyone.

P90X Legs and Back

Very short on time today so I had to skip a few sets = Single leg wall squat, 3 way lunge, Chair Salutations, Groucho walks and the last set of calf raises to get done on time but pleased with what I did do ;)

Got all reps and added the knee raise to my Deadlifts squats with 2 x 5kg / 11lbs, just about managed 8 reps on each leg of weight step ups with 2 x 8kg / 17.7lbs and increased to 10 reps with 12kg / 26.5lb on weighted lunges.

Pull ups weren't bad but never great after only 48 hours of Back and Biceps but I did throw in some super slow negatives just trying to build up some more strength.

My sliders have arrived so I have them and loops ready for A Little Obsessed next week ;)

P90X3 Yoga

X3 Yoga today and it was just what I needed! New pups are driving us crazy and I needed those few minutes to de-stress.

P90X Back and Biceps

Back and Biceps again for me with more increases and I'm loving the progress I'm seeing at the moment. Bring it!!!!

A few blips on my HR today :(
