Welcome to my fitness log

I've created this to keep everything to do with my fitness journey in one place for easy reference.
I've listed links to places I visit regularly or places I think are interesting or valuable resources.

I started doing Crossfit September 22nd 2009 and I loved it - it's totally awesome and it made me a better person in so many different ways!

After nearly 4 years of Crossfit and wrist injury I tried a home fitness DVD for a change and something new - Rip 60 was really great and then I found Beachbody / Tony Horton's P90X!
It's THE best home fitness program ever!!!
It changed my body in so many amazing ways and got my cardio fitness, my core and overall strength including push up strength better than ever before!!

I now do many Beachbody programs as they are all so great.
I 'm a big Tony Horton fan because he makes me work hard but makes me laugh at the same time.
After I completed P90X, I did P90X3, P90X2 and some P90X+. I''ve tried other Beachbody programs including the P90, Piyo, Focus T25,
21 Day Fix Extreme, Country Heat, BodyBeast and Insanity, The Aslyum 1 and 2. Completed 21 Day Fix and 22 Min hard Core.

Did some Insanity Max 30 and Core de Force but my knees can't handle jumping every day so I have to mix them in.
Shift shop is great and looking forward to the new 80 Day obsession.

I'm the fittest I've ever been in my life and still getting stronger every day!

22 MHC 10/54 Cold Start, Cardio 1 and Special Ops Core

Apart from the Burpees - I was actually looking forward to cardio 1 lol

Pushed hard, enjoyed it and I think I'm getting a little faster at them all ;) Apart from the burpees I managed all the reps wahoo!

Special Ops Core again and some moves were much better, I managed more reps so pleased to see quick progress. New mat made a huge difference but I was still toast at the end!

22 MHC 9/54 Cold Start and Resistance 1

This was tough today for some reason, although I wasn't feeling on top form before I started.

Kept the 2 x 4kgs but thrusters were no faster than last time - did the 15 straight, the the 20 broke into 10 and 10 and same for the 25 phew!

Managed 2 unassisted chin ups again in the 2nd round followed by 6 assisted chins. 1st and 3rd was assisted pull ups 10 and 8 respectively.

New beachbody core mat arrived and was great for my but on the sit up punches - starred before them and got all reps in. I struggle to keep up with the speed still.

Also did a few mins foam rolling after cold start on the legs as my right knee was moaning a little this morning.

22 MHC 8/54 Cold Start, Cardio 2 and Special Ops Core

Woweee enjoyed this tonight but I was toast by the end.

Cardio 2 was fun, really tried hard, and chuffed that I managed all the mountain climbers in rounds 1 and 2 and took 1 break in round 3 - great progress for me.

Did the water bug on the floor but wary of wrists and so walked hand back and forth and felt like I was missing out on the whole point so I did the next 2 rounds with hands on bench and got them all in :)

Those Gorilla crawls are still hard for me, I don't have the flexibility to get down real low but I'm hoping it will get better with time. I tried going on just the ball of my foot like Tony mentions so that I could get my butt lower, but nope that made my knees hurt so thats a no no for me. I'll try to get as low as I can and hope my flexibility improves.

Still loving it!!!

Tried the new Special Ops Core tonight and boy it is tough!!! One move I found really easy the rest are tough and no way did I manage all the reps. I was pretty tired after cardio 2 so that didn't help but I was toast at the end!!

Also just ordered the Beachbody Core mat to help protect my butt and elbows more.

22 MHC 7/54 Cold Start and Resistance 2

Wow there is more cardio in this that cardio 1 lol

So I used the sandbag for the burpee press and they were tough, I was pretty slow ;( I think I managed all 15 reps on the last round just.

I used 3kg for the squat jumps and I did all of those thankfully although tough on the legs in the 2nd and third round.

Chin ups L crunch - I turned with my back to the wall and tried a unassisted chin up and went  straight up wahoo!!!! 2nd one only half way. So the went to assist, but slow getting head through the gap and it was pretty easy leg lift with the chin up max assisting. 2nd round I did a another unassisted wahoo, then did a few chin up assisted and then came out of the assist and did some leg raises most bent. 3rd round, went straight for assist to get 5 in then turned and did some hanging knee raises and tried as straight leg lift as possible.

The corkscrew was mostly bent legs in the first round, 2nd a bit of both as I realised I could do straight legs but tough and was cautious of sore butt. 3rd I went for form/quality with straight legs over speed/quantity. Tough and I move down the mat too ;(

I used the 3kg for the punch pull, I was aware of my obliques but got them done. Stick with 3kg for next time.

Great workout, loved it!

22 MHC 6/54 Cold Start and Resistance 1

Kept the 4kgs this time and just about managed it, but I had to take a a couple of breathers to finish that set of 25 thrusters phew!!

Was cautious with my sore butt so did modified sit up punches other than pleased with progress this week. Looking forward rest day tomorrow and then excited to try new Resistance 2 on Monday!

Get Some!!!!

22 MHC 5/54 Cold Start, Cardio 2 and Core 1 (some of it)

Spend a fe hours today, dismantling a desk, carting it downstairs then carry a new desk upstairs and assembling phew!!

So got to do a new 22 MHC workout today with Cardio 2 and yes its a little tougher!! Gorilla crawls are terrible leg burners (where did he dream that one up from) and I still find mountain climbers tough but I loved it lol

Last round of water bug I did with hands on the bench to get some jump but protect my wrists.

I only did some of Core 1 to let my sore butt mend - did a couple standing and then all the belly moves!

22 MHC 4/54 Cold Start and Resistance 1

So I upped my weights to 2 x 4kgs/8.8lbs tonight and I knew to it straight the way on those thrusters/squat press lol
It slowed me down a little and boy did I feel it my shoulders but I got all the reps in ;)

So maybe tmi but I have a sore butt!! During the sit up punches I felt uncomfortable and in the shower it was stinging!!! So yes I have a raw sore bit - the area you sit on when doing sit ups ;( I guess Tony having me working on my rear for 4 days in a row is too much for my butt!!
So no core for me tomorrow hopefully it will mend ready for core again on Tuesday. Anybody else got a sore butt or is it just me???

22 MHC 3/60 Cold Start, Cardio 1 and Core 1

Had a long day today and was feeling a little shattered but got it done ;)

Core 1 - most of the moves are getting easier ;) I did the 'not a mason twist' one with 1kg instead of no weight tonight and was still pretty easy ;) Try 2kg next time.

Enjoyed it but ready a change so Cardio 2 on Friday should be interesting??

22 MHC 2/60 - Cold Start & Resistance 1

Loved this, enjoyed it.

I used 2 x 3kg and my sandbag at just over 5kg/ 12lbs, I need to up it to 2 x 4kg next time.

I reckon my push ups and pull ups are going to get much better really quick doing this program.

22MHC 1/60 Cold Start, Cardio 1 & Core 1

Loved this tonight - really good fun. Even burnt over 100 cals in the cold start tonight ;)

Cardio 1 Tough but good. Burpees and Lunge with twist I couldn't keep up with the pace but I will get faster. I'm concentrating on form at the moment, quality over quantity and all that.

Some of the core moves are really doable and some not so much but I'm getting stronger every day!

22MHC Cold Start, Fit Test and Core 1

So I did cold start to get me ready - which it did!

My fit test results..
Push ups in a min - I managed 20 all full push ups and pretty good depth, slightly shy of parallel towards the but really pleased with them. I though I would have to go shallow near the end and I didn't just took breaks as I need.

Squat Thrust in a min - I used 2 x 2kg and did 29 reps

Pulls max reps - I tried a pull got about 1/3 up. So I chin ups and I managed 2 unassisted ones!! Super stoked. My toe just the wall for balance but I managed two - New personal best for me.
After a few mins I did assisted just to see and I managed 10 reps.

Jumping jacks - I did full touch at the top and bottom and managed 72 reps ;)

Forearm Plank Hold max time or 1 min max - I managed the full minute and with relative ease - wahoo!!

Overall really surprised myself with my results - over the moon.

The I did Core 1 just to see what it was like. Some moves pretty tough, some not so much for me. But this evening my left hip isn't overly happy and I think it was the frog legs one that did as clicking from both sides during nearly every rep - see what happens, should be fine.

22 MHC - Cold Start and Cardio 1

So I had to try Cold start as I was expecting nice little stretching warm up like P90X3 Cold Start...How wrong can you be! This is a little mini workout all of its own lol (Unless you are used to insanity of coarse)

Around 11 mins and you pretty much jog/high knees for the whole time apart from taking mini breaks to stretch - I did over 80 cals just for cold start lol! But I have to say I did actually enjoy it and it got me really ready for Cardio 1.

Cardio 1 is pretty awesome and if like me Burpees drain the energy right out of you then its pretty tough too! The Squat, Lunges in the last round had my legs screaming for mercy!
The pace is pretty swift and for some moves I struggled to keep up - When I can keep up with them I will definably be Boot camp fit!!!

Having previewed a few of the workouts I think I'm going to really love this program!

22 Min Hard Corps - Resistance 1

So I ordered the band new 22 Min Hard Corps last night and hey presto it was on BOD tonight so I just had to give it a go.

P90 Scuplt C was on the schedule but I thought Resistance 1 was a very exciting and great substitution.

So I wanted to do Cold Start first but it didn't work so I went straight into it and it was good fun. Circuit Training with Tony Horton - what more could you want!!

Really enjoyed it but it was pretty tough. 1st round starts with 25 push ups OMG! Needless to say I couldn't keep up and do them all but I went shallow when they got tough and managed 17 full push ups - which I'm really pleased with.

I used 3kg's for the weights and that was about right I think - it was perfect for thrusters/squat presses as like he said 'feel the burn' at 25 on the last round. But I wonder if it was a little heavy for the lunge chopper as being cautious moving the weight made me slow the legs down a little I think?
Not sure - see how it goes next time.
Pull ups I did 8 each Round (2nd round I did Chin ups)

Really looking forward to starting it proper on monday but couldn't resist trying a few first. Going to try and dial in my nutrition more for this one and get some good results, loose some stubborn fat and get that coin ;)

P90 Sweat C & Ab Ripper C

Wowser this was did me in tonight - I had a busy day and my energy levels were rock bottom at the end of these! But I just kept telling myself to think about all the fat melting away ;)

Really great workout but the sprawls really do drain the energy like nothing else!!

Ab Ripper was just plain painful!!

MHC Total Body Chisel

I fancied a change and turn things up a notch again as I'm pretty much back to my old self so Total Body Chisel for me and phew!!

This weights workouts still makes me sweat so much for just lifting weights. Of all the beachbody programs I've done this one is the sweatiest weights workout of them all!!

Great workout. I failed on the bench press but loved it.

Wowweee this was sweaty tonight! Enjoyed it though and ramped me up to the next level again and I'm feeling much better. Last day of antibiotics thank goodness and I'm going to be soooo ready for 22 Min hard core next week!!

Ab Ripper was really tough too, I hadn't mastered A and B was A plus more moves - OMG ouchy!!!

P90 Speed Sculpt

So a brand new one for me - Speed Sculpt and I enjoyed it. Subbed the band row for pull ups and the Band curls for chin ups and it went really well.
The plank kickbacks are harder than they look - phew! Hoppy squats made my legs scream and I got a real good sweat on.

I really disliked these workouts when I first tried them but now I really like them - just what I need while recovering - Apologies to Tony H!

P90 Sweat A & Ab Ripper A

So I needed to get back to some cardio (not done any for 2 weeks!) but didn't want to go crazy so Sweat A and it was pretty good. Def got me sweating and moving about without killing me. Just what I needed ;)

Chased it with Ab Ripper A and I have to be honest considering its only 8 mins woweeee I couldn't do all the reps for the pain in my abs omg!!!! I went in thinking easy peasy but this little ripper is no joke!!!

Great stuff!

P90 Sculpt C

Still not feeling on top form but feeling better so tried Sculpt C.

More balance stuff in this and I was all over the place. I really hope its my ear infection/antibiotics affecting my balance and me because if not I have got incredibly out of condition real fast!!!

Going to try and my week back on track by doing something everyday and hopefully (only 3 more days of antibiotics) things will start feeling better and more normal because I felt during this workout a little how I felt when I first started working out and I didn't like one bit!

P90 Sculpt B

So I'm feeling a little better but still didn't want to go crazy. So P90 Sculpt B was the one. Nice little workout that got the blood pumping again.

I went little heavy on the bicep curls towards the end and one of the squat moves had my legs cramping!! Enjoyed it!

P90 Sculpt A

Been rough for a few more days so resting trying to get over whatever this bug is. Croaky voice all day yesterday and pretty much no voice at all today!

But was feeling little better and needed to do something and trying to find the balance between something and not too much. So I decided a gentle P90 Sculpt A was worth a try and I really enjoyed it. Nothing too crazy, broke a nice little sweat and a wake up for the major muscle groups so they don't go sleep while I'm mending.
