Welcome to my fitness log

I've created this to keep everything to do with my fitness journey in one place for easy reference.
I've listed links to places I visit regularly or places I think are interesting or valuable resources.

I started doing Crossfit September 22nd 2009 and I loved it - it's totally awesome and it made me a better person in so many different ways!

After nearly 4 years of Crossfit and wrist injury I tried a home fitness DVD for a change and something new - Rip 60 was really great and then I found Beachbody / Tony Horton's P90X!
It's THE best home fitness program ever!!!
It changed my body in so many amazing ways and got my cardio fitness, my core and overall strength including push up strength better than ever before!!

I now do many Beachbody programs as they are all so great.
I 'm a big Tony Horton fan because he makes me work hard but makes me laugh at the same time.
After I completed P90X, I did P90X3, P90X2 and some P90X+. I''ve tried other Beachbody programs including the P90, Piyo, Focus T25,
21 Day Fix Extreme, Country Heat, BodyBeast and Insanity, The Aslyum 1 and 2. Completed 21 Day Fix and 22 Min hard Core.

Did some Insanity Max 30 and Core de Force but my knees can't handle jumping every day so I have to mix them in.
Shift shop is great and looking forward to the new 80 Day obsession.

I'm the fittest I've ever been in my life and still getting stronger every day!

Glute work and P90X3 Complex Lower

Didn't get anything done yesterday as I went physio but apart from explaining my increased exercises didn't have me do anything. So turned out to be an unplanned rest day.

Got my upgrade glute/knee work done tonight - made more intense by added bands and stronger bands too.

Then straight into P90X3 Complex Lower - I used a heavier weight earlier for the Bounding split  squats while legs were still fresh and I think it was a good idea. I usually increase my weights each round but not the with bounding one this time and it was better for me. Other weights I kept the same.

Love it!!

Beast Up Chest, Shoulders & Tris

Incline press is still pretty tough for but the rest of the moves went well. Really enjoyed it, gret wokrout ;)

Glute work and P90X3 Yoga

Did my physio glute/knee work again tonight and although its definitely helped its got pretty boring. Due to see him again on Tuesday so hopefully if I need anything more he will change it up.

Chased it with a quick 30 mins X3 yoga, nice bit a stretch to keep things moving.

Insanity The Asylum Strength

Just got glute/knee work one yesterday and chilled out.

Wow those dumbell rotations are a bear!!! Great workout but it was tough tonight - muscles are a little tired from heavy work this week but still loved it!!

Body Beast Build Back and Bi's

No major improvements tonight but really tough in all the right places and a good solid workout.

Surprised at calorie burned but pleased at the same time.

Glute work & P90X3 Complex Lower

Glute/Knee work done which takes about half and hour so then I wanted some lower body stuff (Especially with doms in chest and shoulders) and P90X3 Complex Lower was the chosen one!

Loved it!! Tough with the right weights and all those lunges and squats got the heart rate up too!!

Beast Up Chest, Shoulders & Tris

I rested both day of the weekend as the intensity of last week was a little too much and took more out of me, so I was sensible and listened to my body.

Sunday morning I weighed and measured and was a little lighter but lost some muscle mass so not happy about that so I spent a good few hours looking at my programming for the coming weeks. More heavy weights needed to keep / build the muscle with some intense cardio to keep the fat burning going.

Beast Up Chest, Shoulders & Triceps was a good start I think. Really enjoyed being back on the weights ;)

Good session, most heavy sets were only just and failed on the tricep kickbacks so it's all good. I think I said this before but this is a really great workout by the Beast!

I also wanted to share a picture I took this morning of a very unusual (I've not seen before anyway) caterpillar not long shed his previous coat on a Willow tree we have.

Glute Work and T25 Speed 2.0

Had a stressy day with mortgage stuff and solicitor but positive overall.

Got my glute work and had planned yoga but I needed more so I pulled T25 Speed 2.0  out the bag and loved it lol. I almost kept up too which I surprised myself as I haven't done this one since Nov 15. It was just what I needed ;)

The calorie burn helped my comfort eating of some flapjacks today too!

Insanity The Asylum Strength

Pushed hard tonight and made some good progress from last week.

Managed to hold the same weights for the main workout instead of going to lighter ones like last time.

Did wide rows this time instead if jumping pulls - just for a change.

Cals 751 in full but no graph tonight :(

I spent a few hours today checking out the Country Heat DVD's and overall I'm really disappointed. All the DVDs seems to be the same (although they get harder and faster) - 22 moves that you do once through, the second one that you do, then pair them together and then forget them, next pair repeat, repeat repeat! So there is no end game, there is no end routine to aim at or to build up to for each dvd. For me personally its not what I was hoping for so I'm sending mine back as it's not for me.

Glute work and Country Heat Country Swing

Been out with my best mate to lunch and see the new Bourne Film today, so back a little late but managed to squeeze my workout in.

Got my glute work done - more reps and longer holds so its definitely getting stronger.
I chased it with country swing with was good fun but I'm not the greatest at picking up choreography!! Got most of the moves down but one was a bit tricky for me! Will try to find time to watch breakdown before next try lol

Les Mills Grit Strength 8

Phew this one works you!!! Lots of squats, rows and presses and most of all lots of LM Burpees!!

I was toast by the end and could hardly do the core/plank section to finish but loved it.

Fast moving fun with a great calorie burn to boot!!!

Glute work and X3 Yoga

Got my glute work done again tonight and its getting easier so upped the reps ;)

Chased it with X3 Yoga for a nice stretch.

Insanity Asylum Strength & 22MHC Coin arrived finally

Asylum Strength is such a tough workout - I have only done it twice before but wow - Shaun T really works you doesn't he??

Pleased with how many of the push ups I did on my feet only dropping to knees when I was toast. Tough tonight and some wired chest pain after my shower too but after I got over the silly worries (easy to do when two extremely close family members had heart attacks in the last few years) I think I've just over worked my chest muscles - phew.

So going to take it easy this weekend, just get my physio glute work done and rest up. I'll sort better programming for myself for next week.

But some great news, after giving them a nudge and nearly 3 months of waiting my 22 Min Hard Core Coin arrived wahooo!!!!!

Physio Glute Work and LM Grit Strength 6

So I did my first session of glute work set by my physio tonight to help sort out the tracking of my knee. It took me about 40 mins and was very achey and ouchy in places but that means its working right?

3 times a week for two weeks then go back to see and maybe give me more functional work to do.

So that didn't leave long for my workout so got in another Grit Strength. Increased the barbell weight so pleased with that but the jumping lunges and squats bit was tough after the glute work.

FOY Yoga

Just a little Fountain of Youth Yoga with Tony H for me tonight. First workout in a week with no strapping on my knee and it felt good.  :)

Physio tomorrow night for treatment and program - I'm not looking forward to the pain of treatment but know it will be worth while and I'm excited to see what program he gives me to help.

Les Mills Grit Strength 6

Wanted a change of pace and because of stress levels and hopefully moving very soon - I may drop down to 5 days days a week instead 6 - so thinking of going for 3 day full body blast, with yoga day and a cardio/combat/kenpo day for a few weeks.

Love this tonight - didnt go crazy with weights as still cautious of knee. But did some jumping lunges and squats and no pain so pleased with that. Great workout!

BBeast Build Chest/Tris

Wow I pushed hard tonight I forgot what a great chest workout this one is! My chest was shaking for a good 3/4 of an hour afterwards!!
Phew!!

LM Combat Ultimate Warrior/Combat 60 Live

Wanted a cardio workout that wasn't going to be bad for my knee so some punching and kicking was the chosen one and I loved it!

Not done it for ages and it was great fun and I burnt some good calories too which I needed as comfort eating/traveling eating has been a little too much with less worokuts over the last 10 days!

BB Bulk Back

It's been a pretty busy full on day but at the end of it it was great to get a real workout in at last lol

Kept the weights the same except upped the 8 rep set Deadlift by 1kg - its not much I know but every little bit soon adds up = another pr!

But I did notice my knee caving a little during the deadlifts which is what the physio spotted was a problem for me. It has irritated it a little but after a couple hours rest it feels fine thank goodness.

Can't wait till next week till he tells me how to fix it ;)

Physio for knee

He assessed me and decided my knee cap isn't tracking properly he's strapped it up and wants to see me next week. He will me treatment and rehab/fix program for me to do so looking forward to that.

Country Heat Down and Dirty

Tried some more Country Heat tonight as I wanted some cardio but less impact for my knee.

It was good but very fast - a real notch up from the first one. I found the faster sections pretty tough, lots of new moves made it hard to keep up and get my head round all the moves - but practice makes perfect!

Going physio for my knee tomorrow to see what he says. It is better but its still not right.

BB Build Back and Bi's - as best as I good

Well I got stuck down our work unit today for a very late delivery and knowing I wouldn't get home for my workout so got it done there as best as I good. Found a few light weights (had to hold two in each hand) and used some heavy stuff laying around and did the best I could. No pull ups of any kind as nothing to support my weight so subbed more bent over rows but got something done which has to be better than nothing.

Poor post workout nutrition too ie some dates, some pumpkin seeds and some nuts followed in an hour by Pizza delivery!!! Haven't had pizza for literally years and years and certainly haven't eaten that much white bread is longer OMG!!! So feeling a little week from not enough protein and bloated from all the white bread/dough but hey we do the best we can under the circumstances right?

Obviously no hrm either!
