Welcome to my fitness log

I've created this to keep everything to do with my fitness journey in one place for easy reference.
I've listed links to places I visit regularly or places I think are interesting or valuable resources.

I started doing Crossfit September 22nd 2009 and I loved it - it's totally awesome and it made me a better person in so many different ways!

After nearly 4 years of Crossfit and wrist injury I tried a home fitness DVD for a change and something new - Rip 60 was really great and then I found Beachbody / Tony Horton's P90X!
It's THE best home fitness program ever!!!
It changed my body in so many amazing ways and got my cardio fitness, my core and overall strength including push up strength better than ever before!!

I now do many Beachbody programs as they are all so great.
I 'm a big Tony Horton fan because he makes me work hard but makes me laugh at the same time.
After I completed P90X, I did P90X3, P90X2 and some P90X+. I''ve tried other Beachbody programs including the P90, Piyo, Focus T25,
21 Day Fix Extreme, Country Heat, BodyBeast and Insanity, The Aslyum 1 and 2. Completed 21 Day Fix and 22 Min hard Core.

Did some Insanity Max 30 and Core de Force but my knees can't handle jumping every day so I have to mix them in.
Shift shop is great and looking forward to the new 80 Day obsession.

I'm the fittest I've ever been in my life and still getting stronger every day!

Chalene Extreme Week 3 Burn Circuit 1

Chalene Extreme Week 3 Burn Circuit 1

Upped most of my weights again and pushed hard tonight - loving the progress ;)

Focus T25 Speed + 21 DF Yoga Fix

Focus T25 Speed + 21 DF Yoga Fix

Wanted to get some yoga in today so went for T25 Speed 2.0 and crushed it ;)

Chased it with 21 DF yoga and it was just what I needed - my Heart rate took while to come down so was sweating most of the way through it but it was a much needed stretch.

Chalene Extreme Wk 2 Burn Circuit 3 and Extreme Abs

Chalene Extreme Wk 2 Burn Circuit 3 and Extreme Abs

Pushed hard today and upped most of my weights. But my knees are still not liking the sumo squats, not sure how to change my form to make it better ( I think it my tibial torsion is causing the issues) - I'm thinking of just sticking to normal squats???

I managed all three of the extreme push ups on my feet this time - last week was 2 on feet and 1 knees so although shaking I did it ;)

Now I need to decide which insanity to swop in tomorrow - calendar is cardio power and resistance but is has some shoulder work in there where which could be tough after all the shoulder work today???
I haven't previewed Pure Cardio - would that be better???

Chalene Extreme Burn Intervals

Chalene Extreme Burn Intervals

This went better for me today as I had an idea what was coming so I could work harder and I kept the 5lb weights all the way through this time. I had to take a few breaks on the shoulder press and overhead tricep ext but much better than last time.
That weird half bicep curl, rotate arms out and then push upwards thingy is still a new move to me and obviously working new muscles as they scream very quickly. Ouchy!!

Overall really chuffed with progress ;)

No Ab burner, will try to get it done tomorrow.

Chalene Extreme Burn Circuit 2

Chalene Extreme Burn Circuit 2

Pushed hard today and my arms were shaking that much I didn't think I could finish the extreme reps of bicep curls. Looking forward to what this program will do for me??

Insanity Plyometric Cardio Circuit

Insanity Plyometric Cardio Circuit

I'm probably one of only of few left on the planet that haven't done Insanity before but today I did my first insanity workout and absolutely loved it!!!

I did better than I expected so really pleased ;) the plank stuff did me in as usual as my arms and shoulders always seem to let me down as I still lack the upper body strength to stay in plank very long :(

Is it just me or is there a real high that an intense cardio workout gives you that you don't get with weights????

Chalene Extreme Week 2 - Burn Circuit 1

Chalene Extreme Week 2 - Burn Circuit 1

Upped some of my weights and those I kept the same I tried for slower reps and better form. Overall pleased but maybe could have pushed harder - so will do next time.

Chalene Extreme Burn it off and Recharge

I rested yesterday after a traumatic 36 hours but got yesterdays done today instead - Chalene Extreme Burn it off and Recharge

Burn it off was fairly intense but it wasn't fun I have to be honest. Chalene doesn't explain the moves in this one like all the others she just dives straight in which meant a little rewinding was necessary.

I really don't like the thigh toner band at all - really clumsy and it pinches ;(

Over all it was ok but I may sub in some other cardio next week but I may give it another shot?

Was looking forward to Recharge but was bitterly disappointed. It really was poor for some stretches and the yoga elements didn't flow at all. I won't ever do Recharge again - I'll sub in 21DF/E Yoga fix or even P90X3 Yoga. Shame to end such really great week with such a crapy stretch workout.

Looking forward to pushing harder in week 2 tomorrow!

Chalene Extreme Burn Circuit 3

Chalene Extreme Burn Circuit 3

More shoulder focused than the other and I enjoyed it.

Now I know my weights for next week I should be able to push much harder.

Not sure the sumo are upsetting my ones or not??

Lacking sleep but got it done.

Chalene Extreme Burn Intervals and Ab Burner

Chalene Extreme Burn Intervals and Ab Burner - wow long session and I was late starting too ;(

Enjoyed it I think lol, it kinda went by in a flash, some of the choreography was a little fast but I did my best.
I used 5lb for it and that was too much on some of the moves - mainly shoulder press and those weird 'half bicep, twist outwards and then lift up' thingies. Lots of reps really burn after a while even at a mere albs so I dropped to 1.5kg / 3.3lb.

I tried the thigh worker band and didn't get on with that at all so did the rest with out it.

The ab burner was well an ab burner!!! Ouchy couldn't keep up due the pain!!

Will be better next time but I'm going to move Ab burner to the Monday as the weight days are shorter - doesn't make any sense to add it to the 45 min long workout to me as I always want to stretch more and 1 Hr 13 min is too long for me at the moment.

We have to do what works for us don't we?

CH Ex Burn Circuit 2

CH Ex Burn Circuit 2 for me today.

The sumo squat with tricep extensions were tricky for me but the rest went really well. Started out fairly light so up most of the weights next time except for the bowler lunges - they nearly made me cry!

Chalene Extreme - Burn Circuit 1

I started Chalene Extreme today.

Burn Circuit 1

I know its quite an old one but my first go and I totally loved it. That's the way to lift weights!!!!
I went a little fast on some of the moves so will try hard to slow down next time.

Not sure whether to rest totally tomorrow as per calendar or do some extra cardio??? May be T25 or Combat??

Can't wait to try burn circuit 2 ;) I think me and this program will new best friends!

21 Day Fix Extreme - Yoga Fix

21 Day Fix Extreme - Yoga Fix

Really couldn't face Dirty 30 tonight, I wondered if I was just wussing out so I previewed it and just watching all those lunges and squats made my legs cry so I decided I would be sensible and did Yoga instead.

Loved it, quite similar to X3 yoga but some how much better ;) So for me 21DF yoga is great for a gentle stretch recovery yoga session and 12DFE yoga is for a nice yoga session that has a bit of work in there too - Love it -Thanks Autumn!

21 Day Extreme - Cardio Fix

21 Day Extreme - Cardio Fix

Wow more jumping ;( my knees are not enjoying this much jumping in a week which is a shame.

Worked through the doms but I fear they now will worsen tomorrow lol

Overall I enjoyed it and boy was I breathing hard, lack of oxygen slowed me down a little towards the end.
My legs were really moaning from yet more lunges and squats after all those yesterday - I now realise that Autumn doesn't bother with the notion of not working the same muscle group day after day!!

21 Day Fix Extreme - Lower fix

21 Day Fix Extreme - Lower fix

Wow leg day!!!!!! Loads of lunges and squats and jumps!!!

Was slightly disappointed with the plyo parts as I thought drop sets were coming like in upper fix but even so great leg day. I got through it all with 2 x 10lb / 4.5kg and I think I may regret it tomorrow!

Used my yellow band for last round - heal press was really tough and band walks chock up next time.

21 Day Fix Extreme - Pilates Fix

21 Day Fix Extreme - Pilates Fix

Hmmm this one is quite odd, that band works you very different ways and although it was tough I didn't feel like I was working that hard???

Maybe 2nd time will be better?

21 Day Fix Extreme - Upper fix

21 Day Fix Extreme - Upper fix today.
Enjoyed it but it took longer as I had to keep pausing to change weights.

If I just use 1 heavy and 1 light then some parts of me just won't get the work they need?? My weights ranged from 1kg/2.2lb upto 6.8kg/15lb.

I was also going medium weight on 1st round then going heavy on the 2nd round?? Not how Autumn has it I realise but if you go too heavy without any warm up I think that's asking for trouble??

Any thoughts guys??

The Dolphins were tough had to take a couple of breaks and tricep dip felt harder than I remember them too!!

21 Day Fix Extreme started today with Plyo Fix

21 Day Fix Extreme started today with Plyo Fix.

Great workout / great leg day!!

I went pretty light on my wights with only 1 & 1.5kg used but on the final bonus round I had no spring left and had to step it out so I think I did ok???

Great start I think, and del good to working out again after a crazy work / recovery week last week.

Insanity Fit test

Rest week for before I start 21 Day Fix Extreme but working crazy hard, much harder than normal as we are so amazingly busy.

Yesterday got in 21DF Yoga - very nice to move and stretch my body for the first time in 4 days.

Today I wanted more and been wanting a measurable way of testing my changes between programs on top of measure and weighing. The P90X fit test isn't really that great if I'm honest so I thought I'd try the Insanity Fit test.

It went pretty good, enjoyed it, push ups and power jumps were hardest but everything else went ok.

Results were..
1. Switch kicks I counted 113 kicks but the card says 2 kicks = 1 rep so = 56.5
2. Power Jacks 35
3. Power Knees 95 and I did them all on the same left side - is that right or should I switch side half way??
4. Power jumps 22
5. Globe jumps 7 rotation (28 jumps) a couple of the forward jumps in the last few rounds were more of a step.
6. Suicide jumps 12
7. Push up jacks 11
8. Low Plank oblique 42 or 44 not sure if I skipped on the last count.

Not sure how that ranks me but I thought it would give a good guid to see how I improve or not from program to program.
