Welcome to my fitness log

I've created this to keep everything to do with my fitness journey in one place for easy reference.
I've listed links to places I visit regularly or places I think are interesting or valuable resources.

I started doing Crossfit September 22nd 2009 and I loved it - it's totally awesome and it made me a better person in so many different ways!

After nearly 4 years of Crossfit and wrist injury I tried a home fitness DVD for a change and something new - Rip 60 was really great and then I found Beachbody / Tony Horton's P90X!
It's THE best home fitness program ever!!!
It changed my body in so many amazing ways and got my cardio fitness, my core and overall strength including push up strength better than ever before!!

I now do many Beachbody programs as they are all so great.
I 'm a big Tony Horton fan because he makes me work hard but makes me laugh at the same time.
After I completed P90X, I did P90X3, P90X2 and some P90X+. I''ve tried other Beachbody programs including the P90, Piyo, Focus T25,
21 Day Fix Extreme, Country Heat, BodyBeast and Insanity, The Aslyum 1 and 2. Completed 21 Day Fix and 22 Min hard Core.

Did some Insanity Max 30 and Core de Force but my knees can't handle jumping every day so I have to mix them in.
Shift shop is great and looking forward to the new 80 Day obsession.

I'm the fittest I've ever been in my life and still getting stronger every day!

Insanity The Ayslum Strength

Asylum Strength again for me and increased my weights again ;)

Warmed up with 1st round at 7.5lb /3.4kg this time instead of 2kg / 4.7lb and 2nd round with 4kg / 8.8lb instead of 7.5lb /3.4kg :)

Dumbbell Rotations and Shoulders I stuck with 7.5lb /3.4kg but it was much better and pushed through much better in the rotations where I was lagging a bit last time.

All the rest of the workout I did the 4kg / 8.8lb up from 7.5lb /3.4kg = phew and I'm taking less breaks in the chest/abs section and can feel my abs getting stronger so really pleased with more improvements.
I really really enjoy this workout - love it!!!

My right foot is a little achey and I'm aware of my knees so I think I'd be stupid to do Vertical Plyo tomorrow - I may do triometrics & dynamix (haven't done it in ages) or maybe IntervalsX+ instead. I don't think all that crazy jumping is worth it for me.

Insanity The Asylum - Speed & Agility

So I got out my Agility Ladder and my skipping rope and gave Insanity The Asylum Speed & Agility my best shot and OMG!!!!

I can still skip - I surprised myself lol. Some of the those skipping combos took some coordinating but I got them in the end.

On to the agility ladder work and I have never swore so much at Shaun T or any DVD as much as I did today. It was relentless and I modified and pushed on as best as I could. It was tough but I loved it!!

Struggled with the plank work more than anything and there is a lot of it. If this workout doesn't make my burpees easier and better then nothing will.

Insanity The Asylum Strength

After 4 days rest including a physio session Thursday morning, in which my shoulder is great, she checked my pec/chest, but boy did she get to work on my upper back and pummeled me to loosen it up.

I was indeed of something as I felt like I was stiffening up from the lack of activity and I felt rested so Insanity The Asylum Strength was it today.

Love it and improved from last time - (excluding the warm up round 1 with 2kg / 4.7lb) I used 7.5lb /3.4kg for most of it and dropped to 2kg / 4.7lbs when I needed to and for shoulders but today I managed it all (excluding same warm up) with 7.5lb /3.4kg yay!!! Pleased with over all progress and form too ;)

Tomorrow is rest again for me then I'm going to do a mostly Asylum Week with a yoga day thrown in, in preparation for up coming Shaun Week ;)

Rest

My Pec isn't that happy and I'm not full of beans so I think my body is asking for some rest and recovery. So I'm going to take the rest of this week off, I've had today off and feel better already.

I've learn't before that body needs a recovery week every 3-4 weeks and I've been mending, receiving physio treatment (which takes more out of you than you think) and pushing as hard as I could in my workouts for the last 6 weeks so no surprise that I need a rest really.

So a few days off, although hard for me, is what I need right now. I might also decide if I should change tack for the next two weeks to get ready for Shaun week?

P90X Total Synergistics and Yoga

X3E/T25G Wk3 D1

Total Synergistics today and pretty much enjoyed it. Odd sensation in my left chest muscles right at the start. First push up into side arm balance and felt a very short lived cramp in my pecs as I reached up = very odd. I stretched it out and carried on but dropped to my knees so not to bother it anymore. Felt it once more so I'm assuming very minor strain grrrrrr.

I chased it with X3 Yoga which apart being careful of my chest so knees for chatarangas (which felt odd) I enjoyed the stretch, especially as it's the first proper yoga sequences I have done in 6 weeks (6 weeks ago today I hurt my shoulder.

I have no idea why these niggles keep happening. I'm eating great and my energy levels are good and I'm feeling 100% from my shoulder. I just don't understand, I've never so many little niggles one after another like this??? Am I getting old??? Is approaching 38 getting old???? I don't feel old at all lol What is going on grrrrrrrrrr

Asylum Strength

X3E/T25G Wk2 D6 Rip't up but swappped it for Asylum Strength (I feel Rip't Up just goes too fast to get any real benefit from it for me personally)

I was wary after yesterdays weirdness but after a long debate I decided I'd make a start if I felt funny I'd stop immediately but I was totally fine.

I felt great and got a great workout in - didn't go crazy with the weights but felt the burn! I used 7.5lb /3.4kg for most of it and dropped to 2kg / 4.7lbs when I needed to and for shoulders.

Loved it!!
This one is a great Shaun T, mostly upper body, strength workout. Trust and Believe!

T25 Ab Intervals

X3E/T25G Wk2 D5

T25 Ab Intervals tonight and my plank work was feeling strong, muhc better than last week with my shoulder, it was going great until I had a really wierd reaction - I started excessivly sweating ie far exceeding the effort I was doing? It was really strange, I then started shaking too, all my muscles were quivering. My Heart rate was perfectly good and low as I expected it to be through the roof but it was fine???

No clue what it was, I tried to carry on but my legs were heavy and I just felt weird/rough. It was a bit like when you are going to be sick but I had no nausea at all. No dizziness either. I skipped the last few minutes and just tried to calm down. Then I felt cold with the sweating!!

I started Yoga Stretch but even just laying my back trying to stretch hamstring was causing me to shake still. So I gave it up completely and just did a few gentle stretches to cool down further, cuddle my pup who came to see if I was ok and gradually it went away.

I took my shake as normal and after a while I felt fine and I've been fine since so no clue. It think it was digestion related - my the ab work caused some discomfort or squashed something who knows. I also wonder if it was my body telling me to slow down. I have been pushing hard this week and so I will see how I feel tomorrow.

I was going to swap out tomorrow's Rip't Up for Asylum strength but I will see how I feel, I may skip it and have a rest day and take the weekend to recover.
