Welcome to my fitness log

I've created this to keep everything to do with my fitness journey in one place for easy reference.
I've listed links to places I visit regularly or places I think are interesting or valuable resources.

I started doing Crossfit September 22nd 2009 and I loved it - it's totally awesome and it made me a better person in so many different ways!

After nearly 4 years of Crossfit and wrist injury I tried a home fitness DVD for a change and something new - Rip 60 was really great and then I found Beachbody / Tony Horton's P90X!
It's THE best home fitness program ever!!!
It changed my body in so many amazing ways and got my cardio fitness, my core and overall strength including push up strength better than ever before!!

I now do many Beachbody programs as they are all so great.
I 'm a big Tony Horton fan because he makes me work hard but makes me laugh at the same time.
After I completed P90X, I did P90X3, P90X2 and some P90X+. I''ve tried other Beachbody programs including the P90, Piyo, Focus T25,
21 Day Fix Extreme, Country Heat, BodyBeast and Insanity, The Aslyum 1 and 2. Completed 21 Day Fix and 22 Min hard Core.

Did some Insanity Max 30 and Core de Force but my knees can't handle jumping every day so I have to mix them in.
Shift shop is great and looking forward to the new 80 Day obsession.

I'm the fittest I've ever been in my life and still getting stronger every day!

Cardio X & LIIFT 4 Chest and Tri's. Back pain again.

Sunday I went for Cardio X and it was perfect with some yoga to warm up with, some Kenpo, then some plyo 😜 the only time I felt my back was in the core bit at the end with superman/banana so I didn’t do many of those.
But felt great to get the hr up again after so long 👍🏻

Tonight I was short on time but wanted to get something done so I went with LIIFT4 W1 D2 chest and tris circuit. I went with same weights as I used when I did the program and I managed most of the reps but dropped down on the third set of the last round. I was complete toast and shaking in the 2nd rnd of the burn out so I stopped and stretched out.
Felt great to lift again 💪🏻

Showered and went for tea and reached for something from a low cupboard and when standing up got a sharp pain through my back again :( thankfully not as bad as 2 weeks ago but it’s shook me up a little and I guess it’s my body telling me I did too much too soon 😥
Obviously rolling up and down on the floor of which 6 times I had 17.5lbs in each hand was more than it was ready for!

Guess I need to go back to physio again and build up more slowly.
I'm trying really hard not to beat myself up but I'm just so frustrated with myself!!

Easing back in gently with P90 Sculpt A.  Really enjoyed it, went lighter weight for 16 reps but boy some of those holds are still tough lol. Great to be lifting and laughing at Tony again :)

Yoga Stretch

Just a nice gentle stretch with Vytas today to get things moving again as I ease back in. It felt great to finally move about after 10 days of resting.

My back is feeling so much better, not quite 100% yet but getting there thank goodness 🙏🏻.

Physio Progress and back pain / spasm

My Back spasm subsided very slowly through the week and I went back to Physio on Tuesday. She was pleased with my movement and that the spasm was almost gone.

She went to work on some triggers in my glutes OMG!!! I'm to keep up with my stretches but can do some yoga, light cardio, lights but don't go crazy. Go back to see her if I need to, so really looking forward to get back to it.

I'm going to stick to my own plan of works for me though and not do these programs as set with others as it clearly stresses me out and does me no good at all.

So less is more for me so 2-3 days weights, 1-2 cardio/combat with some Yoga.

Re attack my goals of more unassisted chin ups and an unassisted pull ups. Generally get stronger and build more muscle with some cardio when I need it and yoga to keep flexible and balanced.

Back pain / spasm

Yesterday...My back was feeling better this morning, went to work and while putting the first box on the floor BAM 💥 pain across my back🤬. It’s been in spasm since so I’m going to have to listen to my back and rest up for a few days. Probably rest the rest of this week till my back is completely pain free and start fresh on Monday.

After waking this morning still in lots of pain, I rang to see if there were any physio appointments. Much to my surprise saw me very quickly. She was surprised how much spasm there was in my lower back. She massaged it and gave me some ultrasound and prescribed only walking for now and wants to see me next week. So I think I could be out the game longer than I’d hoped 😫

Transform 20 Day 1 Burn

Transform 20 Day 1 Burn.
Well I pulled by back yesterday lifting some furniture (no clue how/why really? just a funny angle I think) so I was undecided about starting or resting but I decided I would do it but carefully.

Got stuck in loved it, was careful in the burpee section and walked it out and back a few reps but that bothered by back more than jumping so I just got on with it!

I chased it with Shaun's 10 Min Recovery and it was pretty good. Rolling up out the stretch hurt my back more than the workout itself lol but I felt great for the stretch and really enjoyed.

Who's a little scared for Faster tomorrow??? 🤚

Is it just me or is everyone else struggling to find the oxygen or energy to do the recovery taps prior to each Transformer???? We seem to come out of a tough section for those 30 secs ready to go into a tougher section and I can only manage to step the recovery taps while I catch my breath and struggle to jump them most of the time??

My HRM would not give my graph today grrrr!

Transformer No's
Rapid Taps 1 = 130,
Twist Obliques 2 = 100 but mostly hands down as careful with back (twisting hurt),
Rocketman 3 = 1st leg 45, 2nd 32.

P90X Chest and Back

P90X Chest and Back again for me but OMG the sorness in my glutes from Legs and Back is no sooo not funny!!!

Went with heavier bands today and increased most of weights again so really pleased with progress.

Bring it!!!

Had to use iwatch for HR today as heat rash where my strap usually lives for some reason.

P90X Legs and Back

P90X Legs and Back as I could get to my pull up bar today but wow I forgot how tough this one can be lol especially with 25 balance lunges (Bulgarian squats) straight out of the blocks!!!!

I skipped Sneaky Lunges for speed and I did sub in some heavy lunges and went heavy on the calf raises but I was toast by the end phew!!!

Where has my wall squat endurance/strength gone? :(

Transform 20 Sample & BodyCombat 70 Express

Went for Transform 20 Sample again tonight and and pleased with progress as I can now do the push up sections for full time (nothing for most people I know but it's something I'm still working on and each little victory/progress point is still a win ;) ) & then chased it with BodyCombat 70 Express and loved it.

Great workout and just what I needed.

P90X Plyo

P90X Plyometrics well because I love it lol. So much fun with Tony who still makes me laugh after all these years lol.

Thought I might struggle/crash after about 30-40 mins but I didn't :)
Felt good and strong and I'm back in cardio shape and fully recovered. Soooooo pleased to be well again and I'm ready to take on the world and erm Shaun T with Transform 20 in a couple of weeks ;)
