Welcome to my fitness log

I've created this to keep everything to do with my fitness journey in one place for easy reference.
I've listed links to places I visit regularly or places I think are interesting or valuable resources.

I started doing Crossfit September 22nd 2009 and I loved it - it's totally awesome and it made me a better person in so many different ways!

After nearly 4 years of Crossfit and wrist injury I tried a home fitness DVD for a change and something new - Rip 60 was really great and then I found Beachbody / Tony Horton's P90X!
It's THE best home fitness program ever!!!
It changed my body in so many amazing ways and got my cardio fitness, my core and overall strength including push up strength better than ever before!!

I now do many Beachbody programs as they are all so great.
I 'm a big Tony Horton fan because he makes me work hard but makes me laugh at the same time.
After I completed P90X, I did P90X3, P90X2 and some P90X+. I''ve tried other Beachbody programs including the P90, Piyo, Focus T25,
21 Day Fix Extreme, Country Heat, BodyBeast and Insanity, The Aslyum 1 and 2. Completed 21 Day Fix and 22 Min hard Core.

Did some Insanity Max 30 and Core de Force but my knees can't handle jumping every day so I have to mix them in.
Shift shop is great and looking forward to the new 80 Day obsession.

I'm the fittest I've ever been in my life and still getting stronger every day!

Happy New year Everybody - Lets make 2019 the happiest, healthiest and fittest yet!!!!

Transform 20 Sample + Transform in 10 & P90X3 Yoga

Wanted to see if my breathing was better so I went for Transform in 20 Sample again and loved it with my higher step. A few coughs but overall much better thank goodness :)

I still had a little in the tank so I chased it with Transform in 10 but the tank emptied pretty quickly lol phew!!

Then went all zen with Tony and X3 Yoga.

P90X Shoulders and Arms

I rested yesterday as I'm still coughing (much to my annoyance) but got P90X Shoulders and Arms done today - wow you really can't beat P90X can you?

Loved it!!

P90X Chest & Back, Transform in 10 & 15

After a week of being laid up and capable of very little I finally got back to doing something yesterday. I'm still not 100% but I have to do something as I'm going crazy!

So Christmas day was good ol' P90X Chest and Back, with new heavier bands so that I can actually still get some decent pull down action at home. Felt great to so something after so much sitting/ resting and coughing!!!

Today I went with Transform in 10 then after a couple of minutes breather I went into Transform in 15. Both with my proper step and one riser. That extra hight makes a difference (again) and I think on top of getting slightly out of cardio shape doing nothing combined with my 'not clear' respiratory system I struggles at times today. But I pushed and it just felt good to get the blood pumping at last.

Chased it with Yoga retreat Stretch with Vytas and that felt good too.

Hope everyone is having a great Christmas/boxing day chill out.

Asylum Strength

Asylum Strength and what a real total body smash up it is too. Really great workout and the pace of the dumbell rotations take some keeping up with if you are me, thats for sure.

Used 10lbs/4.5kgs for most of it and 3kg / 6lbs for shoulders and the hip thrusts and rows when I just could cope with the shaking of my lats/arms any more lol.

X3 Decelerator & transform 20 Sample

X3 Decelerator and don't you just love Elevator Pull ups. Long while since I've done this one and it was ok. I was cautious on Push ups with shoulder but it pretty good.

Went straight into Transform 20 Sample again as I was in my gym with a proper step and little more room and yes the step height makes a big difference. I know my legs were a little tired from the squats and lunges in Decelerator but my quads soon noticed the higher step. (And comparing HR graphs so did my HR too)

1st transformer I didn't do so well on and the other 2 I did :)

LMOD BodyCombat 68

I thought my legs might feel trashed today but I felt good.
Had a frustrating day though so I punched and kicked all my frustrations out with BodyCombat 68. Love it!!!

I was cautious with the push ups and skipped some of them as my chest felt a little tender.

X3 Incinerator & Tranform 20 Sample

X3 Incinerator and I was at home again so same subs as last time for pull ups and chin ups. The last set of Arm and Hammer curls felt tough for some reason but I did increase on the A press and over all felt good.

I skipped the burnout and went straight into Transform 20 Sample workout and although with my small Wii step again it had me breathing hard and taking breaks with the plank work as my upper body was toast already lol.
Loved it - I think Transform 20 is going to be pretty epic.

I was concerned there would be too much impact for me to do it everyday but he cleverly works your legs without all the constant impact of T25 so I'm really looking forward to it :)

X3 Eccentric Lower and Transform in 10 & 15

X3 Eccentric Lower and I increased my weights for Squat, Sumo, Adductor Lunge and Calf raises (which I sub in for Calf dog) so really pleased over all. Oh and I skipped the hip flexor splits again.

So I wanted try the new Transform 20 workouts and after much deliberation I did Transform in 10 and chased it with Transform in 15. I only used a a low step (Wii step actually) as my normal step is at my gym and I was at home but it work brilliantly, especially in the small area of our tiny living room.
Also after just doing heavy'ish legs with Tony I didn't want to kill myself lol. I loved it - I know it was Shaun going easy'ish but it was great fun. I struggled in the plank work as usual and also I have  Incinerator tomorrow so I didn't try too hard with my upper body and overall it was great.

Can't wait to try the Sample 20 one soon too - Maybe tomorrow with larger step if I get chance, if I'm feeling brave and not to trashed as my legs got worked pretty hard tonight.

T25 Core Speed and Yoga retreat Day 2 Stretch

T25 Core Speed for me today as I think I need to get my feet ready for Transform 20 and it also got the blood pumping to help with my upper body doms!! The pull up bar sure woke up some muscles yesterday lol.

Chased it with Yoga retreat Day 2 Stretch with the brilliant Vytas = Just what I needed. I swopped it for X3 Yoga and really glad I did - it was great to properly stretch out my lower body and I felt great and calm almost zen afterwards.

X3 Eccentric Upper & Triometrics

Eccentric Upper and I managed to get to my pull up bar today and OMG that was tough. Those slow 3 counts really burn those muscles out fast.

I chased it with Triometrics and with a bit more room I could go for it a little more and I was toasty toast by then end!!!

Great total body smash up.

X3 Eccentric Lower and LMOD BodyCombat 62 Express

Eccentric Lower today and increased some of weights :) Had an interruption to go look an noisey treadmill but got back to it. Skipped the hip flexor splits to save some time and also don't think they do that much for me.

Straight into BodyCombat 62 Express as recommended by Janaina a few weeks back and enjoyed it. The guy that wasn't Dan or Rach was a bit naff but really enjoyed the rest of the workout (No legs stuff either which was great after doing legs!) . Skipped conditioning for time.

X3 Incinerator

Incinerator today and really enjoyed it - felt great to lift again.

Had to modify some as I was at home and my bands don't really feel very heavy (I need a stronger band I know) so I swopped pull ups for Hip thrusts (Shaun T move from Asylum Strength) and chin up for Bent over rows with chin up grip.

Followed by a good stretch to help some soreness from yesterday.

Cold / Sinusitis and finally X3 Triometrics and Yoga

I've been out of commission for over a week with cold / sinusitis that actually felt like mild flu grrrr and today I finally feel like I'm back in the land of the living - thank goodness!!!

X3 Triometrics to get my 2nd week of Rnd 2 of phase 2 of X3 back on track - but I didn't go crazy - enjoyed though and it felt good to get the blood pumping after all the sitting and stiffness from rest rest and more rest. Watched a few good films though :)

Chased it with X3 Yoga for a good stretch out.

Here's to staying healthy from here on in!!!

Everyone is still crushing it I see - Great job!!!!

P90X3 Incinerator, BodyCombat 71, X3 Eccentric Upper

Wednesday was X3 Incinerator.
Thursday I went for a new BodyCombat with #71 which was pretty good. Not as intense as 68 (ie they give you time to breath) with some mobility stuff in there but the leg section was tough two days after Eccentric Lower = I didn't make it lol.
Rested yesterday and today although full of cold grrrrrrrrr I did Eccentric Upper. Nothing too crazy as used the bands due to being at home but slight increases on Military Press, Upright Row, Lateral/Anterior raise and Kneeling Preacher Curls so pretty pleased :)

See how my cold is feeling tomorrow and may either do Triometrics or rest.

P90X3 Eccentric Lower & 22MHC Core 2

Eccentric Lower tonight and wow shaky legs!!! I tried to use my recent LIIFT4 weights for guidance on this one as it a long time since I last did it and boy there were about spot on pheew!!! Hope I dont regret it over the 48 hours!!

Chased it with Core 2 and nope I didn't manage all the reps but I did my best!

P90X3 Triometrics & T25 Core Speed

P90X3 Triometrics and chased it with T25 Core Speed. Had to take a couple of breathers but pushed through and loved it 😊

My HR app just would not give my my graph tonight  grrrr

Saturday, 17 November 2018

P90X3 Eccentric Upper

So phase 2 of P90X3 and Eccentric Upper - got my weights about right and enjoyed it.

At home so used Rip 60 straps and bands for pull ups but tried to make them as hard as I could. Shoulder felt a little tweaky after Miltary press but has since calmed down so all good.

Feels great to be back to some weights again - I know recovery weeks are necessary but they are still hard!!!

P90X3 Isometrix, Dynamix, Accelerator & BodyCombat 68

Monday was Dynamix chased with Isometrix and OMG I had forgotten how tough Isometrix is! Those 60 secs holds feel like an eternity 😞

Wednesday I did Accelerator - was a good one but tough for me because of all the Plank work ☹️
Will my shoulder ever get strong enough to do all the plank work in these programs??

I’ve been crazy busy and stressing over all sorts of stuff (and comfort eating) so today I decided to punch and kick the stress away and burn some of those chocolate calories away 😝 with Les Mills BodyCombat 68 - wow did I need that!!!

Thursday, 8 November 2018

P90X3 The Warrior and 22MHC Cardio 2

P90X3 The Warrior and I chased it with 22MHC Cardio 2 = phew 😅 Boy did I lose some dna tonight OMG!!!

Elevator Push ups felt better and I can't beleive how many burpees I've done in the last two days lol.

Wednesday, 7 November 2018

P90X3 Yoga, The Challege and CVX which turned into Max 30 Cardio Challenge

Monday was P90X3 Yoga and apart from an interruption to go find our missing pup who wasn’t really missing - he was just hiding under the bush as he was scared of the fireworks - it was just what I needed🙏🏻.

Yesterday was The Challenge and it went pretty well. Push ups feeling good, more military done on 1 knee instead of 2 😊 so more progress.
Managed to get to my pull up bar thank goodness and I managed 3 unassisted chin ups with a small jump at the bottom 😁, the rest were assisted and I did 30kg pulldowns in the burnout just to keep things interesting.

Today was going to be CVX but I started it and got some weird pain in my left shoulder during the push jacks, tried to work through it into loading dock but it was having none of it so I quit it and went straight into Max 30 Cardio Challenge. Enjoyed it but struggled a little during the last two rounds - I think I ran out of gas..been a long stressy day and lacking a bit food me thinks.

Sunday, 4 November 2018

P90X+ Intervals Plus

Needed more than Agility X today so I chose P90X+ Intervals Plus and I swear it's the best cardio workout that Tony has ever done!!

Love it!!!!

X3 Total Synergistics and Shift Shop Prep week Proving Grounds Strength

Total Synergistics was good today, push ups felt stronger and balance was much improved. I snapped my black band on chin ups :( so I switched to Rip 60 (like TRX) straps to finish.

I wanted a little more when I was done and I actually had the time today, so I thought I’d try Shift Shop Proving Ground Strength - I did the Prep week just to see. It was pretty good. Some new combos of strength movements and of course bears🐻! Not triple bears but bears none the less lol.
Overall enjoyed it 😊

Friday, 2 November 2018

P90X3 Dynamix, Yoga, The Challenge and The Warrior with Max30 Cardio Challenge

Been a crazy week so catch up post....

Monday was X3 Dynamix and Yoga 🙏🏻.

Tuesday time was tight was I got the The Challenge done. I was pleased with my increase reps in pull ups (some as I almost didnt get my chin over as I reached failure last time - I made them this time) and my push ups are feeling stronger. Miltary (my weakest from injured shoulder) I did more on one knee instead of two knees and even those on feet I took less or later breathers ie 10 last week was 5-3-2 I managed 6-4 this week so YAY!!!💪🏻

I needed some Shaun T on Thursday so I manage to squeeze in Cardio Challenge and it was tough but loved it - I know I've said it before but still nobody makes me sweat like Shaun T!!!😰

Yesterday I just managed to carve out the time to get The Warrior done and phew - its still pretty brutal. Was pleased with the Elevator push ups this week - slight improvement over last week.💪🏻

Rest today and then decide if I do a third week of X3 Phase 1, move on to phase 2 or change to some X2 🤔.

X3 Total Synergistics and Agility X

Rested yesterday as I just felt stressed out and below par - so I listened to my body and took the time out to destress. Felt great today so X3 double with Total Synergistics and Agility X.

Increased my weight for Hop Press and flying warrior 💪🏻. Managed all the Revelie Plie today too - still shaky but pushed through so yay 😋.
Warrior Squat moon was better this week but still didn’t get them all in.

I did all push ups on feet including those in Agility X too except for the last round as I was toast but pleased to be feeling stronger in my push ups again 😁

P90X3 The Warrior

Yesterday was X3 The Warrior and it was tough 😖. I was not feeling 100% and I pushed through, I got it all done but it was really hard work. Rest day today and then start again tomorrow 👍🏻

Wednesday, 24 October 2018

X3 The Challenge, CVX & Fountain of Youth Yoga

Monday was Fountain of Youth Yoga - really enjoyed it🙏🏻

Tuesday was X3 The Challenge and I managed to get it done with a pull up bar and just about hit all my numbers 💪🏻

Today was X3 CVX and I was pleased as I increased my weight for most of it. Had to drop it just a couple of times when my shoulders were screaming but over all really pleased 😋

Looking forward to X3 The Warrior tomorrow as it feels likes ages since I’ve done it!

Sunday, 21 October 2018

P90X3 Agility X

X3 Agility X

Crushed it - so much better than last time I remember doing it and it’s been a while 😁

Saturday, 20 October 2018

P90X3 Total Synergistics

X3 Total Synergistics and loved it 😍.
Wow I forgot how good this workout is lol. At home so had to modify the pull up to bands but hunted down the heaviest/hardiest one I could find.
I saw the Sumo Squat move and thought I got this but being up on the toes…and wow my calves and quads were shaking and on 🔥!
Warrior Squat Moon told me how much balance/finesse I have lost in that move too 😝

BodyCombat 68

BodyCombat 68 today and smashed it!! 👊🏻

After noticing a few changes in my body and not for the better I’m feeling the need for a change up so I going back to my old mate Tony!!

Some X3 for a start as a little recovery and easier to fit in with my crazy life at the moment and see how we go.

LIIFT 4 Shoulders Intervals and Legs 50/50

Tuesday was L4 Shoulders Intervals (Wk4) and although tough I enjoyed it. Stayed with the same weights on the raises but felt better. Had to drop a little for the swimmers to keep form. But My shoulders actually felt a little stronger on the overhead press at last. 💪🏻

Yesterday was Legs 50/50 (Wk 7) and I'm doing more workouts from home at the moment as work is crazy busy and there is just no time. So I had to make the best of Bowflex and 2 Spinlock adjustable Dumbells.
Got stuck in and thought...wow I'm feeling strong today these 12kgs/26lbs feel really light for the front squat and calf raises. Bowflex felt super heavy @ 35lbs/16kgs for deadlifts when I'm used to using my Barbell. But after first block was done I double checked and the 2 plates on by dumbbells that I thought were 5kg plates were actually 2.5kg plates so the 12kgs/26lbs were actually only 7kgs/15lbs doh!! 😳
6kgs/13lbs went ok for side lunges and pulsing squat and I was pleased with my increase to 22.5lbs / 10.2 kgs for Bridge. I'm pretty sure I could bridge way more but the weights are awkward to get onto my hips 😔
Really chuffed with my Sumo squat with a single 50lb/22.6kg as it was only 5lbs under one of the muscle men in the cast lol 😍

Oooh yeah PR to share - during the HIIT section I actually successfully stayed up for the three sets of twisted mountain climbers - first time ever for me!!!! Nothing for some I know but my shoulders just screamed at me and all through the first round of LIIFT 4 I just couldn't do but 4 weeks later and today lots of progress wahooo 😝

Sorry for not posting more often - life is just crazy right now. So much going on with work and life OMG 😩

Bodycombat 68 & LIIFT 4 WK 4 Chest and Tris

Yesterday was Bodycombat 68 and it was even better than last week! 😍

Today was LIIFT 4 Wk 4 Chest and Tris Circuit and I actually felt just a teensy bit stronger 💪🏻 (although after first set I got called to secure a door from the terrible winds) but took less breaks and didn't reach almost failure this time with better pacing too = every once of progress counts right 😊
Needless to say I was pretty useless in the burn out and these quad sets just fry your muscles and he expects push ups...come on 🙄

Hope everyone is still killing it!

Wednesday, 10 October 2018

LIIFT4 Chest and tris, X3 triometrics, Shouders Intervals, Legs

Sunday was LIIFT4 Chest and tris 50/50 from wk3 and I swopped out the hiit section for X3 triometrics.
Chest and tris was tough as always especially the tricep push ups at the end.
Triometrics is always fun with Tony, I enjoy the extra leg work but that kablam section at the ends still burns lol 😜

Monday rested and yesterday was LIIFT4 Shoulders Intervals. Got my weights back to where they were before my weak week but my shoulders don’t seem to be progressing as well as I would like, especially in the overhead press ☹️
Felt my chest Dom’s too in those darn swimmers 😨

Today was LIIFT4 Legs 50/50 (wk 5) and increased on Front squat but weights at sides again. Sumo squat up to 50lbs/22kg which I felt. Increased rear alt lunges up to 2 x 8kg / 17.5lbs and oh yes I felt that one too lol.
I was toast for the hit section, those sumo jumps I could hardly get off the ground and had to modify to keep moving 😳 and although I’m no fan of triple bears I think I’m slowly getting better at them or rather my shoulders are allowing me to stay up for longer and I actually managed the full 30 secs in the last set through sheer grit and determination 😛.

BodyCombat 68 & LIIFT 4 Back & Biceps Circuit

Friday I needed something so I chose BodyCombat 68 and it was awesome. I had not done it before but it was great, fast and furious and great cardio burner! Loved it!!!

Yesterday was Back and Biceps from Wk 3 of LIIFT 4. I subbed in assisted pull ups for the 1st round of Trad Row and then moved to Pull downs as I was toast!
Increased my weights from last time and boy I felt it!
