Welcome to my fitness log

I've created this to keep everything to do with my fitness journey in one place for easy reference.
I've listed links to places I visit regularly or places I think are interesting or valuable resources.

I started doing Crossfit September 22nd 2009 and I loved it - it's totally awesome and it made me a better person in so many different ways!

After nearly 4 years of Crossfit and wrist injury I tried a home fitness DVD for a change and something new - Rip 60 was really great and then I found Beachbody / Tony Horton's P90X!
It's THE best home fitness program ever!!!
It changed my body in so many amazing ways and got my cardio fitness, my core and overall strength including push up strength better than ever before!!

I now do many Beachbody programs as they are all so great.
I 'm a big Tony Horton fan because he makes me work hard but makes me laugh at the same time.
After I completed P90X, I did P90X3, P90X2 and some P90X+. I''ve tried other Beachbody programs including the P90, Piyo, Focus T25,
21 Day Fix Extreme, Country Heat, BodyBeast and Insanity, The Aslyum 1 and 2. Completed 21 Day Fix and 22 Min hard Core.

Did some Insanity Max 30 and Core de Force but my knees can't handle jumping every day so I have to mix them in.
Shift shop is great and looking forward to the new 80 Day obsession.

I'm the fittest I've ever been in my life and still getting stronger every day!

P90X+ Intervals Plus

Needed something a little shorter than Plyo X today so I went with Intervals Plus. It goes by so fast as you only get one break phew!!

I was gasping for air on this one OMG!!!

P90X Chest, Shoulder and Triceps

I was really rushed today so did a quick warm up and skipped a bit of Tony Talk to speed things up but got it done ;)

Really pleased with increases in nearly every set on this one and even a good example of failure leading to progress. Lying tricep extensions - which I do in a few of these moves as some of Tonys crazy Throw the Bomb and Front to Back bother my elbow. The last but one tricep move in the workout so I'm usually pretty toast by them but
Week 1 I tried 6kgs/13lbs ( I can do 12 reps with 5kg/11lb so seems like a good time to increase) I only managed 1 rep and failed, took a few breaths and failed again.
Week 2 with 6kgs/13lbs again I managed 3 reps then failed, then failed again
Week 3 with 6kgs/13lbs again today I managed 4 reps before I failed, then managed 1 more rep before I failed.
That to me is good progress?

Love it!!

Core De Force MMA Kick Butt

So I tried MMA Kick Butt today and it was ok, I quite enjoyed it but grrr to technology as it kept pausing so there I was kicking away thinking...would that be 30 secs by now????

But it reminded me a bit of X3 MMX which I enjoyed but It was certainly more leg focused with not much punching in it but there are lots of push ups!!
I didn't do the plyo ones as my wrist can't hack it (from a wrist injury a few years ago) but I did try the Aligator ones on my knees, concerned with my shoulder, but it felt ok so really pleased with that.

I was also pushed for time and it kept taking ages to restart and I know its a few mins here and a few mins there but it soon adds up. Also the extra breaks brings the HR down too of course.

I wanted to get some yoga done afterwards that I didn't get done Thursday but time was cracking on - I looked for a quick 10 min one on BOD Yoga Studio and chose Post workout cooldown stretch with Ted but after a few moves I just carried on doing my own stretches to cool down.

P90X Legs and Back

Lacking a little sleep but pushed hard as after sitting in the car all day yesterday I needed it!

Increased my weights on Step back lunges to match Tony's 2 x 9kg / 20lb!!!
Also upped on Deadlift Squats, Calf raises, my weighted step ups & weighted lunges (8 reps @ 2 x 12kg / 26lb) Phew!

Pull ups went pretty well too considering only 48 hours after Back and Bi's ;)

Pups home

No Yoga for me today - we brought home 2 Cocker spaniel pups (3.5 months old) today! I know crazy right lol

Went to get one but couldn't resist the almost twin brothers. So needless to say after traveling most of the day (about 120 mile in total!), getting them home and settled there was no chance for yoga but I will do a ying yang combo on saturday to catch up - hopefully ;)

P90X Back and Biceps

This one works the biceps in almost every move and boy does it pump them up and wear them out fast lol. I did increase weights and/or reps of 11 of the 24 sets!

I reduced the assist on my chin up max and my numbers didnt take a huge dive so I'm pleased with that =  less assist means more strength ;)

I was chuffed with my increase on the strip set as that one is a toughie right at the end! Grow little guns, grow!

P90X Plyometrics

Good ol' Plyometrics for me today and loved it!

I was a little rushed so shortened the warm up and skipped the pitch and catch but got it done!!

HR monitor dropped out for a few mins around 15 mins mark but still got a good burn ;)

P90X Chest, Shoulder and Triceps

Chest, Shoulder and Triceps (with mod's) again for me today and good increases on most of the moves.

Did some push ups on Power stands today and some on the bench as my shoulder is feeling good ;)

Chuffed with my Heavy Chest Press and took my triceps to failure again too!

Shakeology at last!!

So today I finally tried Shakeology - Chocolate flavour!!

Its not too bad, I only had 1/2 a scoop with water and shook it in the Shakology shaker and it was pretty nice. Very chocolaty but nice.

I can see why some people prefer it with milk to make it a more chocolate milkshake taste.

I'm curious to see how it works out.

P90X Legs and Back and Max 30 360 Abs

Feeling a little chest and Lat's DOMS from yesterday - which kinda suprised me.

Loved P90X legs and back today, increased my weights again up to 2 x 10kg / 22lbs for Calf raise squats and 10 x Weighted Lunges (subbed for iso lunges) ;)

Up to 2 x 6kg /13lbs for Side lunges too. Kept the same weight for Weighted step ups but managed 10 on each side up from 8 last time!

Fairly pleased with my unassisted Chin up numbers today especially with worked lat's.

Chased it with Max 30 360 Abs and I think it was just a tiny bit easier than last time lol

P90X Chest, Shoulder and Tris

P90X Chest, Shoulder and Tris today.

I modified a few moves in this one and did all pushups against my bench just to not overwhelm my shoulder.

I actually took a glucosamine and chondroitin tablet yesterday and one this morning and my shoulder is feeling noticeably better 😊

Fried my triceps to failure too so that’s always good 😎

Core de Force MMA Power

MMA Power was good fun today, I had to push to get through some of those spikes but boy does it get the heart pumping - love it!

Hammer and Chisel - Chisel Abs & some P90X Yoga X

Chisel Abs and some Yoga today. I was planning X3 Yoga but BOD stopped working and it was the only one I had to hand so I did about 25 mins of Yoga X.

With interruptions and short on time grrrr

P90X Back and Biceps

Back and Biceps today and wow what a pump I got today. Not sure why?

Chin up strength seems down but when you've fried your biceps before hand I guess its to be expected lol

P90X2 PAP Lower

I rejigged my schedule this week to give my tweaky shoulder a few more days before I do Chest, Shoulders and Arms. Not sure what I did to upset it so much but yesterday it was really painful.

PAP Lower was good fun today. Step up convict was my favorite move and it got tough as I increased my weights each round, I had to back down in last set as I was getting to slow to keep up.

P90X2 Recovery and Mobility

P90X2 Recovery and Mobility was just what I needed today. I haven't foam rolled in weeks and boy that took me straight to the pain cave. But wow did I feel better afterwards, so much looser and a great end to my recovery week ;)

I'm really ready to get back to it next week - I just need to decide what to do for three weeks before 'A little obsessed' week? Any suggestions??

Clean Week Active Flex

This was a nice gentle little stretch today, loved the shoulder moves for rotator cuff and it told me mine is still little unhappy on the left ☹️

Didn’t break a sweat like she said lol but still enjoyed it - if you need something really gentle to stretch out on a recovery day/week - give it a try 😉

Clean Week Strength

Tried the new Clean Week Strength today and it was pretty good as an intro to weights. Although I thought some of the side lunges with a row/fly where a little tricky for a newbie but other than that good little total body workout.

Negative curl was a new move for me - definitely works the forearm.

Went fairly light using a range of 3kg/6.6lbs to 7kg/15.4lbs DB's

Forgot my HR Monitor today so I used my watch - not as accurate but better than nothing lol

Clean Week Cardio and Core Function

I've had 3 good solid rest days with no workouts as I felt it was what I needed. I find it hard not to workout and usually my recovery weeks are not as much recovery as they should be because I still push and every now and again (yes I've clearly not learnt the lesson yet) it catches up with me.

But back it today with Clean Week Cardio and Core Function. Cardio was pretty good especially following the intensifier but normal would be enough for the intended audience and seeing an intensifier is a good motivator for those people.

Core function was tougher than I expected to be honest, I did do it after Cardio which may have been a mistake in hindsight but I expected more core centric stuff and I was wrong lol. A good full body one with a core focus but boy its a shoulder burner for me.

My shoulders are getting stronger and they were pretty tired from all the Bears and Mountain climbers and Burpess in Cardio but Core Function crushed them!

Overall pretty good workouts - Well Done Megan.

Grrrr my HR monitor was messing about something terrible today.

Core de Foce Mash up, Max30 Max Out:15 and X3 Yoga

Tried a new one today with Core de Force Mash up - it was good but not a favorite - it would be a great one for a recovery week though as there is a little bit of everything.

Because I needed more today and I chased it with Max Out 15 just to burn a few more calories and then calmed it down with some X3 Yoga.

I haven't been doing any proper yoga with Chataranguas to protect my shoulder for a couple of weeks. I wanted to see how it was doing and it's not as good as I was hoping. Knee Chat's are ok but as soon as I tried a full one it complained so I will try to build it up some more and try again.

Have a great week everyone.

P90X Legs and Back

I missed Yoga yesterday due to long work day and thought it best to rest my tweaky shoulders.

Legs and Back today and matched Tony with 2 x 9kg / 20lbs for the Squat Calf raises at the start ;)

Increased a few here and there and I had to skip abit at the end due to short on time.

My body is telling me recovery week needed so that's what I'll be doing next week.
I was originally thinking maybe X3 Warrior, Cardio X and Total Synergistics with some yoga/stretch but I'm not sure whether to try Clean Week instead??

Any thought's from those doing Clean Week?

P90X Shouders and Arms

Slight increases in weights and reps here and there but my right shoulder this time is complaining a little - so I guess its not fully recovered from all that sawing on Sunday :(

Changed and reduced a couple of shoulder sets on the fly so as not to cause any damage.

Max 30 Cardio Challenge and BODYoga Stretch with Vytas

Fancied a change so I went with Max 30 Cardio Challenge and then chased it with some calming stretching with Vytas Stretch from Yoga retreat.

Been a stressy time over the last few weeks and I needed this crazy ying and calm yang combo to restore some peace to my life.

P90X Chest and Back

Active rest day fro me yesterday with a couple of hours on the garden digging up a stubborn bush and sawing up some more, then some planting.

Chest and Back again today with slight increases in push up numbers and I increased in my weighted sub's for my shoulder :)

Pull up numbers so so as muscles still felt a little tired from the gains on Friday so that's no biggy but pleased with my increase on Lawnmowers up to 10 x 15kg / 33lb  ;)
