My log of my fitness progress, including success's, failures and PR's.
Welcome to my fitness log
I've created this to keep everything to do with my fitness journey in one place for easy reference.
I've listed links to places I visit regularly or places I think are interesting or valuable resources.
I started doing Crossfit September 22nd 2009 and I loved it - it's totally awesome and it made me a better person in so many different ways!
After nearly 4 years of Crossfit and wrist injury I tried a home fitness DVD for a change and something new - Rip 60 was really great and then I found Beachbody / Tony Horton's P90X!
It's THE best home fitness program ever!!!
It changed my body in so many amazing ways and got my cardio fitness, my core and overall strength including push up strength better than ever before!!
I now do many Beachbody programs as they are all so great.
I 'm a big Tony Horton fan because he makes me work hard but makes me laugh at the same time.
After I completed P90X, I did P90X3, P90X2 and some P90X+. I''ve tried other Beachbody programs including the P90, Piyo, Focus T25, 21 Day Fix Extreme, Country Heat, BodyBeast and Insanity, The Aslyum 1 and 2. Completed 21 Day Fix and 22 Min hard Core.
Did some Insanity Max 30 and Core de Force but my knees can't handle jumping every day so I have to mix them in. Shift shop is great and looking forward to the new 80 Day obsession.
I'm the fittest I've ever been in my life and still getting stronger every day!
First time I've done this one and I really enjoyed it. It's pretty non stop and I was toast by about half way. Had to take a few breathers and pushed on much as I could, and really enjoyed it!
I was a little wary of my foot tonight and skipped half of the Sneaky lunges and took breaks in iso lunges but other than went for it
Great workout which I really enjoyed. My chin ups are feeling strong so will reduce assistance next session and will increase the weights I used and I will add weight to some moves that I did unweighted tonight
I meant to do some deadlifts before I got going tonight but with pup causing so many distractions and time cracking on I missed/forgot them In hindsight probably a good thing as this week as been tough with the heat, lack of sleep and draining pup! Will do it next week though.
Couldn't go full blast at this tonight as slight strain in left foot but still enjoyed it. I skipped the hot foot section as that would not be clever and it was still lots of fun - I forgot how it good this was
Loving doing some solid workouts with Tony again.
A little doms today so thats good, I did push yesterday so looking forward to improve on it next week too.
I really enjoyed this tonight, the old ones are the best lol 10 months since I last did Chest and Back and I had forgot how good it was.
I was beginning to feel a little week after a week of very little but I was pleased with my reps tonight considering everything Push ups and pull ups and somehow Tony makes it fun
Ab ripper was tough tonight and my quads hurt more than my abs on the in outs and bicycles!
Had a crazy/emotional/tiring week visiting our new pup at the RSPCA everyday waiting for our home visit. Which we finally got on tuesday and so wednesday we got a 6 month old sprocker pup (cocker spaniel crossed with a cocker spaniel) home and he really has boundless energy. Been doing lots of more walking for obvious reasons and been too shattered for a workout until yesterday.
I managed X3 Yoga yesterday and then X3 Cold Start & Accelerator today - felt good to do something after near 5 days I feel like I'm loosing strength and flexibility so need to get back to something so hopefully, albeit a slightly new routine because of the pup, but some kind of routine is being sorted so I'll start my new hybrid on Monday
I've been resting over the weekend because I've been tired and feeling over trained and I've been doing a lot of thinking and I'm going to stop body beast for now. I'm really not enjoying it and don't look forward to my workouts. Since I started Beach Body programs 12 months ago I've looked forward to and enjoyed 99% of my workouts and this last 3 weeks of Body beast just isn't doing it for me I'm afraid.
I'm gonna do my P90X, X2, X3 hybrid I was gonna do before I decided to do body beast and enjoy it again
So today after 2 sessions of managing 12 chin ups and 8/10 pulls during last two Back and Bi's sessions I have decided to decrease the resistance. I have reduced it by 2 inches to see if can get stranger and see how many I can do next time ;)
Phase 1 Build Week 3 Day 3 - can't hack this dodgy days and dates thing - it's actually Week 3 day 2
Beast Cardio, Beast Abs and chased it with LM Pump Flow
Well I actually enjoyed Beast cardio tonight
I used a 3kg in the early stages then 2 x 4kg for the rest. My mountain climbers and burpees are slowly getting better. My legs were screaming on some of those holds but I worked hard and was dripping
Abs was good I used 4kg for the weighted stuff.
Flow was nice - a bit of yoga and some lovely stretches
I think I might move my rest day this week from thurs to either sat or sun to help break up the 9 days with no rest as per the calendar
Upped my weights again pushed hard tonight - even got shaky arms that were still shaky washing my hair
Upped my Deadlift to 32kg and 17.3kg on EZ curl and my one arm row up to 10.2kg
My Pulls up increased this session but my chins were the same - wondering about reducing my assistance down another inch?? reps will go down but strength increase is what I'm after for my chins/pulls.
Lots of pausing to change equipment and move stuff round in my small room but still enjoyed it.
I pushed and worked hard tonight and was really pleased with my effort until shortly after I had finished and my left knee started hurting
I think it may have been the sumo's but not 100% sure. I tried to foam roll incase its triggers but it so frustrating! It's bothering me but I will get a good night sleep and see how it is tomorrow.
Went pretty well tonight and I pushed hard - even to failure on the tricep extensions
Chest press up to 8kg and go more next time. Incline press 8kg as well but that close to my limit today with the Fly at 5.6kg.
Close grip press also 8kg but should up that next time with the partial fly at 5.6kg.
Tricep extension I did the 12 reps at 4.5kg only just and then tried my hardest to complete the 8 with 5.6kg but at 4th reps everything was shaking and I really didn't want to smash my face so I dropped to 4.5kg to finsh but then of course the drop set was 4.5kg and I I only managed 6 of the 8 reps so had to drop yet again to finish. But hey it gives somewhere to build from and improve on - if you're not failing you're not trying hard enough right?
Dips reps are improving and my in and outs too!
Overall I'm feeling more sturdy and stocky so something must be working
I wanted a little more and I enjoyed the 20 mins Flex yoga from Pump -
I have to be honest Sagi is getting to me as he's a little dry and shouting all the time. The changing weights a lot is getting to me as well trying to change equipment often to keep up with them. I'm feeling a little demotivated and just don't look forward to my Beast workouts like I do my Tony H ones Which does surprise me
